Well lets do some quick math
We will take the first week of halo sales and use that as a representation shall we?
In the first week H5 sold 3 million copies of the game
That’s three million people who bought halo five
Now, we know all of these people have the internet because they needed it to play the game
We know these people are at the very least semi-interested in halo because they bought the game
Right now as I type this Star wars battlefront sits sixth on XBLs most played list with 90,000 playersHalo 5 sits 10th on the list with a presumably far less number, but we will be generous here and say for the sake of argument H5 currently has 60,000 people playing it
3 million people bought the game in the first week (this doesn’t count any sales after the first week or the xmas boom) and yet still (even after the xmas boom) were we to be generous (I feel theres much less) only 60,000 players are playing two months after launch
That’s only 20% of the original people who bought the game in the first week which equates to 80% of people who bought the game but for what ever reason aren’t playing it now and this is only taking into consideration the first week of sales not factoring in the possible millions of other copies sold since
Its obvious for what ever reason, the vast vast majority of people who buy H5 don’t continue playing it for any lengthy time
This is the fastest a halo population has ever dropped, not even H4 fell this fast
And you can’t say its because halo isn’t as popular as it used to be…3 million copies sold in the first week alone…that’s a lot of copies, people just don’t enjoy this new version of halo, It’s as simple as that

I don’t think the game is a joke, but this said, the ranking system and such is pretty bad at times I’ve come to the conclusion unless you play FFA, then it’s great.
This ranking system works great IF and ONLY IF you play with a team of people you know for ALL 10 first games. AKA a group of friends or a fireteam. If you go into 4-4 solo and play 10 games, it’s messed up and here why:
So lets say in my first 10 games I happen to be on that day or not on that day. I’m either going to be ranked either much higher then I should be or much lower. I’ll be pair up with people who are either much better then me, and I won’t be able to hold my own or I’ll be leaps and bounds better then my team. That isn’t right nor is it a true reflection of your skill IMO.
The IDEA of halo 3 ranking system still is the best IMO. Everyone starts at the bottom aka 1 and if you win you go up and if you lose you go down. Sounds perfect to me. I played a pile of H3 ranked and I can honesty say I rarely got one sided games. Most were all very close if I was with randoms or with a fireteam. That is how it should be.

your math doesnt add up.
60,000 current players doesnt mean only 60,000 people play. you would need to see unique players over a “typical” week to really begin to consider how many people play. not everyone plays all day every day.

That’s true, this is only taking into account players during a single time frame, it does however give us an immediate idea of the population of the game, and we can track this on an hourly basis and watch it rise and fall.
Now, that being said we can look at peek times (which I would consider this (for north America at least) to be a peek time being only 7:30pm in Toronto and again, approx. 60,000 (probably lower) are playing
H5 does not crack the top five on the list anymore, it generally sits anywhere between 5-10 and at some points has even fallen out of the top ten most played list already
Do you know how long it took H3 to fall out of the top 3?..3 years

That doesn’t even remotely indicate a “75% drop in player base.” My only point was that the OP can’t spout off “facts” that aren’t confirmed as accurate. Most Played on Xbox live doesn’t show exact numbers; just 'cause battlefront is at 6th with 90k doesn’t mean H5 couldn’t technically be 10th with 89,996, which, as you confirmed, would only be a snapshot of the people playing at that moment. Even if you watch it over time, there’s just no way to confirm of a “75% drop in playerbase.”
The phrase implies a permanent loss, and while there may be a dip in players online at any given time, there’s holidays, finals, work, storms, buggy servers, and a between-patch lull to take into consideration.
I find it very difficult to believe, despite the rantings of the vocal minority, that 2.25 million copies are now collecting dust somewhere – never to be played again.
My 2 cents, I have yet to understand why people take rank seriously. Second I play almost every shooter out there- COD, Gears, Battefield, Battlefront, Plants Vs Zombies, Killzone- ShadowFall, Destiny. etc. It does not matter which game i play, They, all, ALL of them will mismatch players. Its unavoidable. Its a freaking game. I want to win as much as anybody. But I’m realistic enough to know I can’t win them all and some times I’m going to get owned. the only one lately that has done something to take the sting out of playing against organized teams is Battlefront by limiting your party to just 2 people. Quitting will only hurt you by eventually getting banned and hurt your team. One last thing, If you are really obessive about winning, you should find your self a team/clan you can play with. thats about all you can do.

I don’t think they will never be played again (though it is possible) but they aren’t being played very often, this much we know for sure.
I always thought the Halo 5 MP AI sized up your skills and placed you with similar players but that is untrue. It’s
more over just a roll of the dice. Winning MP matches takes a huge percentage of (((Luck))) in the make up of your team
mates. So far my ((Luck)) percentage has been great, my (teams) actually won six warzone games in one day. Truly
a rare feat.
