A few ideas that could revolutionize Halo 4

First, I wanna talk about Campaign. I know that there’s only a year of development left, and 343s likely already started on a campaign similar to H1, H2, and H3, but it’s not too late for Halo 5. If they havent started, I think this would be something to think about.

I’ve noticed that a lot of today’s popular games are free roam (ex: AC, Fallout, GTA, RDR, ect). I dont think it really worked much in ODST, because people just got bored walking around looking for buttons and clues. If we had a system similar to games like Fallout, or GTA; one that takes place in a giant sandbox, and there are several side missions to complete and a set a missions that go toward the main story. And were you pick up perks and items along the way.

Next, I wanna talk about MP.
-Dog Fight
Sabre fighting in Reach was AMAZING, and I think there needs to be a mode where you can fight off aliens like in LNOS, a mode where you protect an objective, and one where you fight other players

-Skulls
We need more skulls; skulls that will DRAMATICALLY change gameplay, like cheat codes. Like a skull that turns every human into an Elite, or a skull that makes every PP shot freeze its target. One where EVERY NPC in the game is Flood. Crazy stuff.

-Scarab Gun
Simple as that.

-Fist Fighting
One of the things I miss from Marathon.

-Armory Updates
Im talking about an armory 343 can update. I want armor DLC to be possible, and it should be set up in a way where even if you dont buy or unlock a helmet that’s on the marketplace, you can still see others who have.

-New Armory Options
For example:
–Player Model Weapon(the weapon your character holds when you look at stats[in Reach, itd be DMR]. New weapons are purchased)
–Player Model Stance(specific stances to each weapon, purchase from armory)
–Assassinations(pick from a list of assassinations for non-melee weapons)
–Voice(pitch and sound of character’s voice when sprinting, dieing, falling, ect)

-New Armor
Like the Black Smoke AE, Red Visor, GRD Helmet, MAYBE the return of Hayabusa, or a remake that resembles it to capture the same feel without copyright issues.

-Bring back DUAL WIELDING!!
It was totally awesome in H2, and H3. I loved it. And I think Dual Energy Swords is overdue

-Arsenal of Weapons
Give us EVERYTHING. I want all 3 pistols(H2, H3, and Reach, CE’s was WAAAAY overpowering). I want both Assault Rifles(there are like 2 types but I dont remember the names). And every other weapon from the series.

-Weapon Attachments/Mods
Before you go yelling about “this isnt CoD” just think about it. Scopes, Bayonets(increase lunge and melee damage), Shotguns, Night Vision, maybe a Flashlight. All these would by unlocked, or purchased from the armory or marketplace. Some would be specific to certain weapons(for example, an Overheater Mod that you can ONLY using on some Covenant Weapons, which changes projectile color, and fire rate, but overheating rate as well, could be used to explain the Brute Plasma Rifle).

-Weapon Skins
We’ve been given the Golf Club right? Lets expand. I want mods for weapon skins. Maybe through weapon placement in Forge, instead of object color, “Weapon Skin”(skins like gold skin for ARs, Lightsaber or Katana for Energy Sword, Baseball Bat or Axe for Grav Hammer, ect)

-Flags, Skulls, Bombs
Should be able to be spawned via Forge or non-Assault/CTF/Oddbll GTs instead of only during select gametypes. They are 3 of the only melee weapons we’ve ever had in Halo.

-Halo 2 Custom Games Dynamics
We pretty much have it in Reach, minus the fact that some options are disabled for some gametypes. For instance, in H2, I could make an Assault gametype, but having a bomb was a bonus, an the main objective was only to kill the other team. That type of dynamic need to return.

-Multi Textured Forge Objects
Self-explanatory. Forge gets boring when everything looks like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRqIgCjp0pE

I wanna be able to a neighborhood using wood for houses, and asphalt street pieces. I wanna make an Infection map that looks like the back-end of Winter Contengecy.

-Security Camera and TV
In Forge, it would have a “node” system. This could be used for stealth gametypes, or “Saw” gametypes, Machinimas, ect

-Elevators, Switches, Doors
We want em in MP

-Civilian Vehicles in MP and Forge
Sports cars from ODST, Forklift, Pickup-Truck(the pickup truck should have a functioning back door; imagine the gametypes based on smuggling and kidnapping!)

-The Elephant
Yeah…

-Transport Vehicles
Troop Hog, Transport Falcon, Turretless-Revenant, need to be in MP

-Vehicle Colors
Like on H3’s Avalanche, vehicles were white. Add it to Forge

-Bring back Equipment
But keep AAs too. I miss mah damn Trip Mine!(and make it sticky again, like in the H3 Beta)

-Destructible Enviornments
I think it would work, if put in right

-Time of Day and Weather Effects

No, don’t bring back AA’s. And they already confirmed that there are going to be destructible environments.

Destructible environments, terrain editing, and time of day editing can’t work simply because the way the Engine is made.

The only thing that can be added in a sense is the Time of Day, but multiple copies of the same map would have to be on the disc to switch through, the Engine doesn’t produce real time environmental lighting.

The terrain is not dynamic in anyway outside of the actual game editor, this is also impossible because any edit of the actual environment outside of adding objects would have to be rendered again, which takes long hours on super computers.

You know, instead of writing all that stuff down for the upper half… you could have just put "Increase in multiplayer/campaign customization.

Yes to these.

I disagree with a LOT of this. Free roam missions are cool but should not consume the game. I like having linear missions, corridor missions and missions with small open areas, maybe one or two missions that have nice areas to explore, but open world is not good for Halo.

Weapon customization wouldn’t suit Halo, if we are able to have custom skins then the skins should be appropriate for Halo’s theme. Weapon attachments would be horrible, this is not -Yoinking!- COD.

Having every Halo weapon in one game would be stupid. It keeps any room that could have been new weapons, and then we are stuck with a tone of weapons of the same categories like the BR and DMR.

AA’s suck but an updated Equipment system would be cool.

Fixing you characters stance on the character display is just pointless and takes up memory that could be better used.

And waste an entire thread on just that? Nope.

The only things I don’t agree with is AAs and weapon mods. AAs need to stay dead on Reach. And if weapon mods are in Halo 4, they should not effect gameplay, only astethic. If it effects gameplay, then we’ll have entered CoD territory.

halo should have open world, that would be amazing

Some of these ideas are cool but some arn’t needed such as the stuff with guns and stances and fist fighting but there are some good ideas here.
