Hey all, first time poster here, so forgive me if this isn’t the right place. I don’t know if any developers or anyone like that sees this stuff, but I figured I’d give it a try. So I had this idea the other day, and I think it’s a pretty cool one. Here’s the problem as I see it. A lot of Halo multiplayer modes limit you to 2 people per console, and you’re limited to 4 for any other game type. When you’ve got a group of people playing, you just swap off the controller. However, because of the value most players see in stats and achievements, most people don’t want some noob playing on their profile wrecking their stats. The other issue is in the controller. Nobody plays the game with the same controls. There’s inverted guys, boxer guys, high sensitivity, low sensitivity, the list goes on. You have to change the controls every time you swap controllers. And you don’t want to go through the 360 profile log out and log in between every game, because that just takes too long. The idea I had was essentially hot swapping profiles. Before you start playing, you log in as many profiles as you plan to use. Before you start the first game, controllers 1 and 2 pick a profile to have assigned to them. After the first round, there’s an option in the menu to switch profiles. Since all the profiles are already logged in, it’s a much faster swap than going through the 360 menu. Everyone who signs in with their own profile already has all their options saved, and is now tracking all their own stats. So, that’s my idea. Thoughts?
Very -Yoink!- idea, like it, although when I have 4+ people over we play halo 1 and 2.
Dang. With ideas like those…
Very good and well thought out post.
Nice one
Do people these days not know how to LAN?
Instead of split screening and swapping controllers like an amateur, have your friends bring over their Xbox/monitor/controllers & LAN it up like a real gamer!

Hey, every gamer loves a good LAN party. We used to play Halo 3 nightly in my dorm my freshman year of college. LAN is fun as hell. However, online multiplayer is such a huge facet of gaming these days. Everyone wants to see how they stack up with the rest of the gaming world. I’ve seen a lot of guys these days just hanging out with a couple buddies and playing Live. It sucks when you’re playing on someone else’s profile then. Personally, I don’t like playing online as much when I know it’s not doing anything for my stats/achievements. And it’s kind of annoying when the non-gamer in the group hops on and wrecks your name.
So yeah, LAN is great, but I still think it’s a solid idea.
