A different type of map/gametype vetoing

I bet most people have maps and/or gametypes they dislike to play on, or play. or a combination of both, some gametypes might be horrible to some on certain maps.

First we just got assigned a map and gametype
Then we got a veto, where we got a map and gametype, got to vote for a new one and then had to play on the selected map and gametype if the veto went through
For two games straight then we got a vote system of three choices, semi-random maps and gametypes.

Now I did like the first method best, getting assigned a map and gametype without much to say about it. It was kind of disappointing having a wanted map being vetoed or not voted for.

However, having played Warcraft 3 again, I thought their system was something that could be of value. I think Starcraft 2 also have it.

In each playlist there’s a selection of maps. You as a player get to choose a number of maps you do not want to play on, and thus for you that map won’t be selected when entering a game, it will select a map which is available to everyone.

Now, Halo 5, or a sequel, could try this same system, but with the alteration that you also get to choose that you don’t want to play a map altogether, or just certain gametypes on it. Of course, the number of “vetoes” you get must be limited, otherwise you might find yourself in a match where everything is vetoed.

The simple Halo 2 way was best, it gave you the most variety and if you got maps you disliked, it made you work to get better at fighting in them I believe.

Well I did say I liked it the best, but I also like choosing what to not play because I don’t like it.
I don’t think it has much to do if you’re bad on a map or gametype, more how your enjoyment of the map or gametype or combination is. In some cases it can be true, but I doubt it is in most though.

Counter-Strike GO has the same thing for ranked. Before you que up for ranked you can pick what maps you want to play on. Each map also has an average wait time below it (ex: Dust_2: 40sec, De_Nuke: 3min). Opens up the amount of customization quite a bit. Also for more hardcore players it lets you practice one single map or a core set of maps.

No voting system in h5. It’s going to rotate through maps without player input.

I thought they added a veto system? I bet a couple months after launch they will add it. They probably want people to try out their new maps. Makes sense to me.

It’s far easier to try out maps when it’s a cycle.

That way people dont spam vote/veto for the same map over and over again.

Either no option to skip or a single veto are the best options in my opinion.
