To the Congress of the United Nations
Yesterday, Aug. 4, 2017 - a date which will live in infamy - the United Nations Space Command was suddenly and deliberately attacked by the rogue ground and air forces of the Empire of Forge/Serena.
The United Nations was at peace with these leaders and, at the solicitation of 343i, was still in conversation with the government and its emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace and balancing on the ark.
Indeed, one hour after Serenas air squadrons had commenced cryo bombing at our home base, the 343i ambassador to the United Nations and his colleagues delivered to the Forums a formal reply to a recent community message. While this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing balancing negotiations, it contained no balance, hot fix, or a patch.
It will be recorded that the time it took 343i to sign reduction treaties on the leader Jerome, makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time, the 343i and CA government has deliberately sought to deceive the United Nations by false statements and expressions of hope for continued patching and balancing.
The unprovoked attack yesterday on the ark has caused severe damage to UNSC military forces. Very many lives have been lost. In addition, UNSC planes and troops have been reported frozen on the high road between Highway and Bedrock, with balance no where in sight.
Yesterday, the Forge/Serena government also launched an attack against us with never before seen power.
Last night, Forges forces Nuked Rift.
Last night, Serenas forces Froze Frontier.
Last night, Forges forces Glassed Sentry.
Last night, the Forge/Serena empire attacked Badlands.
This morning, they both attacked Vault.
343i has, therefore, undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the Balancing area. The facts of yesterday speak for themselves. The people of the United Nations have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our game with no hot fix.
As commander in chief of the Military, I have directed that all measures be taken for our defense.
Always will we remember the character of the onslaught against us. The monstrosities that make up Forge and Serena, have no end in sight.
No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory. Patch or no patch.
I believe I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost, but will make very certain that this form of treachery shall never endanger us again. Balance will be brought back in one form or the other, that us the people must instill.
Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory and our interests are in grave danger in this upset of power balance.
With confidence in our armed forces - with the unbounding determination of our people - we will gain the inevitable triumph - so help us God.
I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Forge and Serena on Friday, Aug. 4, 2017, I hereby declare that a state of war has existed between the United Nations and the Forge and Serena empire.
The forum posts in response to this patch are significantly more entertaining than the game itself.

A shadow has fallen upon the scenes so lately lighted by the OverPowered victory. Nobody knows what Soviet Forge and its Communist international organization Serena intends to do in the immediate future, or what are the limits, if any, to their expansive and proselytizing tendencies. I have a strong admiration and regard for the valiant Microsoft people and for my wartime comrade, Sketchy. There is deep sympathy and goodwill on the Forums - and I doubt not here also - towards the peoples of all the 343i and a resolve to persevere through many differences and rebuffs, debuffs, in establishing lasting balance. We understand the game needs to be secure on her western frontiers by the removal of all possibility of unbalanced aggression. We welcome HaloWars to her rightful place among the leading games of the world. We welcome her flag upon the seas. Above all, we welcome constant, frequent and growing patches between the UNSC and the Banished. It is my duty however, for I am sure you would wish me to state the facts as I see them to you, to place before you certain facts about the present position in Halo Wars.
From Rift in the Ark to the Shield world in the Adriatic, an iron curtain has descended across the galaxy. Behind that line lie all the capitals of the ancient states of balance that are long forgotten. Cutter, Isabel, Anders, Kinsano, Johnson, and Jerome, all these famous leaders and the abilities around them lie in what I must now call the Dumpster sphere, and all are subject in one form or another, not only to Forges influence but to a very high and, in some cases, increasing measure of control from Serena. The UNSC alone - Cutter with his immortal glories - is free to decide its future at an election under 343, CA and Microsofts observation. The Serena/forge-dominated game has been encouraged to make enormous and wrongful inroads upon Halo Wars, and mass expulsions of millions of Gamers on a scale grievous and undreamed-of are now taking place. The Communist parties, which were very small in all these previous states of the game, have been raised to pre-eminence and power far beyond their numbers and are seeking everywhere to obtain totalitarian control. Very Unskilled players are prevailing in nearly every case, and so far, except in skirmish, there is no true balance.
343i and CA are both profoundly alarmed and disturbed at the claims which are being made upon them and at the pressure being exerted by the online forums. An attempt is being made by the 343i on the ark to build up a quasi-Communist party in their zone of OverPowered DLC leaders by showing special favors giving nukes to groups of left-wing players with a push of the Y button. At the end of the fighting last night, the Forge and Serena Armies expanded uncontrollably, not in accordance with an earlier agreement, to a depth never before seen, forge was given immense power at some points of 300% upon a front of nearly making it 400%, in order to allow our Casual Gamers to occupy this vast expanse of territory which the Skilled players had once conquered.
Today: August 5th. CURIOSITY Mars Rover’s birthday. It’s up there, humming the birthday song to itself. (No lie, it’s programmed to do so)
