Look, I know this probably won’t be noticed much but I’d just like to state my opinion.
Topic: Ranking System
After the release of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare, the ranking system for nearly all games followed suit. A system where you don’t really have to do much in terms of skill, but basically just play the game. Sadly Halo Reach followed suit and from what I have read, Halo 4 has done the same.
This is what I hate. Have you ever gone into a match in say COD or Reach, and noticed a player the same rank as you but they are basically terrible? This is what I dislike. Your stats may totally and utterly dominate theirs in terms of K/D and points but nevertheless they have played more than you, for which has earned their rank, which is fine and all, if you suck at video games.
Halo 3, in my opinion (besides its campaign) was one of the most popular games of all time because you ‘ACTUALLY EARNED YOUR RANK’. Yes that’s right. You could move through experience and go up grades but you actually had to earn your rank through a different playlist where you actually competed against other players to go up in rank. This added into the players mind a will to try their best and to not lose. This ranking system defined who was good and who wasn’t, and not by progressively playing the game, but by actually beating other players, which is why I loved Halo 3. Even though some people sold accounts, was it really that bad?
This is why I dislike the gaming community at this time because they all want to follow each other in terms of how they rank their players. Seriously right now think of a high titled game that came out in the last 3 years for which has a huge community that has a ranking system where you ‘EARN’ your rank?
I hope I have changed your mind about things. But hey, in my mind I loved Halo 3 because I earned my rank and I felt special. I would love your honest opinions about ranking systems.
Thanks guys
