A Creative Solution to The Outline System

Feedback regarding the issues with the “Friend or Foe” outline system in Halo Infinite’s multiplayer:

THE SOLUTION IS SHIELD EMITTERS.

Instead of using the UI outlines to show friend from foe, using team colors on the Spartan’s glowing SHIELD EMITTERS could be a better option that doesn’t rely on the UI to give the player information.

This would fix the outline system’s unintended fault of breaking immersion in multiplayer. With the team colored SHIELD EMITTERS, stealth is a more viable option and players will not nave to worry about the UI giving their position away from across the map (This is especially the case in Big Team Battle.) This also fixes the issue with having to wait for friendlies and enemies to separate from each other to be able to identify who to attack and who not to attack.

I like that the enemy’s name still appears over their head when aiming/ looking at them. This should stay in the game and it would work with the team colored shield emitters flawlessly. As far as teammates, the friendly player’s service tag should still be seen through obstacles as was the case in older Halo titles. The blue outline on friendlies is distracting, breaks immersion, and takes away from player expression.

Replacing the “Friend or Foe” Outline System with team colored SHIELD EMITTERS is a lore-friendly, immersion-preserving solution to the problems caused by the outline system.
