A concept for the store

So for the past week, I have been getting on Halo Infinite for the main purpose to check the store for any changes to prices and the quality of these cosmetics. And to be frank, I don’t see any improvement. (Long story short, Daisy Delights bundle is a rip off.)

Anyways, to what this post is actually about. This is a concept I have been thinking about and would appreciate it if 343 would consider the ideas in this post as I think they would benefit the game, allow money to be made, but also cater towards casual gamers. But of course there will still be a grind for the F2P players, but it’ll be more fair.

Note: I will not be talking about the battle pass, this has to do with the store and only the store. Also for 343. I am going to be completely honest, so if you’re reading this, please understand that anything negative I have to say about your current system is just my way of giving feedback.

Now lets get started.

Weekly and Daily bundles should not be the primary
I personally believe these bundles eliminate what 343 wanted to do. To remove FOMO. With this system, 343 is essentially encouraging FOMO. For those who don’t know, FOMO basically means the Fear Of Missing Out.

A new store concept
Create a store catalog. This basically means creating a store system that has everything in the shop as an individual piece and not a bundle. I personally don’t like the idea of these bundles. This is because there are pieces I would like, but the game forces me to cough over $20.00 to get a single item I wanted. This should really be changed. Creating a store catalog would enable players to buy the things they want individually. I won’t go into the prices these individual items should be, that will be up to whoever is in charge of the microtransactions of this game.

How to handle weeklies and dailies
A way I would see weekly and daily bundles being incorporated into the store is in the form of additions to the store. Now, I know right now the prices on these bundles can be very unfair. However, they can be adjusted over time. But with the added store catalog, they would actually find a suitable place as another option for the player.

Earning free credits
Now, this is very important. Catering to the F2P players. There should be a way to allow players to earn free credits. Other F2P games do the same, so I think Halo infinite should do the same. A simple way I could see this implemented is added a 100 credit reward on top of the Ultimate Weekly. This would actually encourage more to do it. (They can also replace some of the challenge swaps and XP boosts in the free tiers of the battle pass with 100 credit tokens as another option.) This would encourage F2P players to grind and work for what they wanted in the store.

Conclusion (This will mainly be my honest thoughts on the current state of the game.)
Alright, these are some of the ideas I had and was thinking about for awhile. I really do think these ideas could help Halo Infinite have a much healthier economy compared to it’s current state. I can see that others are creating their own ideas for the store as well and I wanted to give my own input. (Note, I have not read the other posts on this topic, so I apologize if my ideas are too similar to another, I swear it’s not plagiarism!) I would appreciate feedback to my own post with other’s ideas so we can work as a community to offer 343 a much healthier system to keep the game from falling apart before the new year starts. Because as things stand now, this game is struggling to keep players interested. I have been watching many videos, reading many posts, etc etc. I have been looking into the behavior and reactions of the community for awhile now and I think I understand where things stand and how people feel. So yea, we need to keep giving feedback and ideas to 343. Be constructive and respectful.

TL;DR
Let players buy stuff individually, add 100 credit rewards for ultimate weekly and in the free tiers for the battle pass.

For 343
In case 343 happens to read my post, I have my own message for them. You guys have created an amazing game. However, as much as it sucks to be heard. You guys gotta get on top of this stuff and really work things out sooner, not later. I fully understand you guys got your own lives and it’s the holidays. But I have been a gamer all my life and I have seen what happens to games when issues that the community want fixed aren’t given until it’s too late. If the game flops early, it’ll have permanent effects on it’s lifespan. Players will leave and will refuse to come back later, even if things are sorted out later. It is a demand by the community. Which sucks for you guys for sure, but you guys are carrying a very important legacy, all I ask is that you guys don’t let Halo be ruined because of greed.

I don’t think they care who leaves because that shop is going to make them more than enough money with the F2p MP and the campaign already sold. Now it’s all about drip-feeding content from here on out and watching that money flow in from the shop. See, I don’t play the games companies are playing these days with their player base that many fall for, it’s sad really.

Let’s see how we can lie to our player base face to get them to buy our new product by making all these false promises to get their hopes up. Bungie is really good at that and it looks like 343 is taking notes.

Bungie taught me well back in 2014 not to ever trust any companies word ever again, and 343 showed me I was right not to trust their word. Talk is cheap people, it’s the actions from a company that you have to actually pay attention to because it will actually show the truth.

I didn’t buy the battle pass, nor did I pre-order the campaign. Looks like I’ll be saving some money to use it on something actually useful becase this less than half-backed game isn’t cutting it.

In the long run of things, players do matter to a game’s lifespan. Since how successful a game is also takes into consideration how many players are playing actively. And plus, if people leave, that is basically less and less money for them anyways. So I am sure on the business sides of things, they do care about player count and activity. It’s not like they can’t make money, it just needs to be more reasonable and consumer friendly.

(Didn’t do reply so reposted.) No wait I did, okay I am just dumb lmao.

I agree with what you are saying, but I don’t think 343 took first impressions matter seriously.

They knew they were releasing a game that had major issues, and they knew they would get the backlash. All of what has taken place with the feedback they have gotten was anticipated, if they cared enough they would have gone about it another way instead of just thinking about their wallets.

Well, what they should have done was delayed the game again. But it’s too late for what ifs and whatnot. All we can do now is speak our minds and hope 343 will make changes from our feedback.

The game in how it was designed is set in stone. Yes, feedback is important, but let’s be real here. It’s a business running the game, not a company that is “interested in our feedback”.

So, I’m going to wait until they actually release most of the content so I can at least feel I’m playing an actual game.

I’d rather they stuck the Credit earning to Events.

  1. It brings back a sizable playerbase to do the Event so more people playing = faster match making
  2. It gives people a reason to play the Events if 343 decides to recycle Events over the years

What would be fair would be:

  • Finish Event Pass : 500 Credits
  • Per Match complete : 50 Credits

Max Credits earned through matches per Event period : 500 Credits.

Okay if they weren’t interested in our feedback why did they completely change the Halo waypoint into the forums it is now specifically for feedback

I believe you misunderstood what I was referring to. When it comes to things like waypoint, sure they will listen to suggestions, but when it comes to their shop that is a whole different story.

The store can still be affected by feedback especially because everyone hates the store and there’s not very many people who defend it there are people who say it doesn’t matter it’s just cosmetics and they don’t spend any money in it because they don’t care about it but the people who do care about it also don’t spend any money in it and then the ones who defend it are very few so in long-term they’re going to be making a lot less money if they don’t change the store

If you take a look at other games like destiny that players have been complaining about it for years knowing nothing has changed. It doesn’t matter how many players don’t like it. If that money is flowing in as it will be, they won’t change it.

I take it that you haven’t played many games with a shop because if you have you wouldn’t be thinking about it how you are.

343 definitely cares about the player count. You won’t buy anything if you never play the game. They want everyone to stick around long enough to be enticed by all the new shiney stuff, maybe one day you’ll take the bait. A whale is born of a minnow. Of course they would at least like to try and turn us all into a healthy sized tuna. I’m sure there’s more fishing parallels, we could go on forever.

Considering I own destiny 2 and every single one of its DLCs I actually have played it and the store in destiny 2 is practically non-existent to me I have not purchased a single in store item with anything other than the in game currency that you get from playing the game because the game actually gives you in-game currency unlike Halo infinite does and destiny 2 has updated significantly due to player feedback sure they didn’t change the way the store works but the only items in the store that players can buy are cosmetic items that change the look of an armor that already exists that you don’t have to pay any money to get you have to play the game to unlock it see with destiny 2 the way that they have changed the cosmetic system it’s almost perfect because now any armor that you have unlocked you can use it on any armor piece you want once you’ve unlocked it as a ornament so destiny 2 has indeed changed a lot due to feedback from the players

Also Halo infinite is not going to be making that much money especially if people are fed up with their prices if they don’t change things to be more consumer friendly there’s not going to be very many people sticking around some people have already left the game due to the fact that it has a store

And while I definitely still disagree with a lot of the cosmetic item prices in the destiny 2 store they are not something that is needed in any way because there are other things that can easily suffice from just playing the game but with Halo infinite you don’t get any types of cosmetics for playing the game unless you buy them or you buy the battle pass and the very few items you do get for free for playing the game we’ll take you a very long time to get to due to the fact that there is a almost no progression system whatsoever

I also actively play Destiny 2 and I can agree with you. If we compare Halo Infinite’s store to Destiny’s. Destiny is doing much better at marketing microtransactions in the game while also catering to the F2P players. The other thing though is that Destiny 2’s income is from their expansions primarily. Since Halo infinite is free to play entirely, it’s a bit trickier to give people so much freedom with well… free credits. So I understand why they wanna fully monetize cosmetics. But they need to make it more fair.

D2’s Eververse has bundles, but it also has a catalog and the weekly or dailies are just discounted bundles or items. Recently Bungie just added way more to the eververse as well, which includes vaulted cosmetics which you can get now. So now the store is fully open to everyone, with fair prices on items while also cycling them into the bright dust weekly. So looking at D2, we can definitely say that changes can be made to Halo.

The other thing I really wanna note though is that 343 is a branching development team made by Microsoft. I really feel like they could lose some money to make the game better and then make more money down the line. I highly doubt that Microsoft or whoever is in charge of paying 343 can’t pay them their salary with all the money the company makes from other games on the xbox store. I don’t wanna call microsoft greedy, because they have done a lot of good in recent years. But I do feel as though emphasizing video games on business is definitely ruining games as a whole. But hey, we in the modern gaming era, where everything costs money so rip.

I did spend money before I realized how bad the store was. Since then I haven’t spent anything and have only been grinding the battle pass. I am kinda okay with the $20.00 bundles since if I see a set I like fully, then it’ll be worth it for me. But if there is only like a single item in there I like then I am just like nah.

The only bundle I am willing to buy for the Mark 7 is the scout set if it looks good. Since Scout set has always been my primary set in Halo.
