A compromise with Armor Abilities in Halo 4

Halo veterans tend to hate armor abilities for whatever reason they do. Apparently, they dont like gameplay variety. But that isnt the point of this thread. The point is that since petitions against AA’s in halo 4 are running rampant, how about we come to a compromise. The best ARMOR ABILITY in reach is undeniably the sprint. How about sprint then?
It may not work as an Armor ability, but how about a general decrease in chief’s movement speed (reach-ish) , with the addition of a non armor ability sprint! Hey, maybe even an Evade as well?

Post your thoughts on the matter.

No armor abilities PERIOD. Besides no armor abilities fits in with canon. However i do agree with Chief atleast being able to run or something.

as long as armor lock is a pick up and not a load out or removed from the game I’m happy

Halo Reach’s MP could have been a bit better if the Armor Abilities acted like the Equipment in Halo 3, you had to pick them up and yet with the AAs, you could use the ability as many times as you can (you still have to have it charge though) until your killed, then you would have to wait till it respawns. That way, there wouldn’t be as much Armor Lock spamming since once the user dies, he could not just respawn with it, instead have to wait for it to respawn.

I’m a Halo Vet and I like some AA’s.

I was pleased with the addition of Sprint. Armor Lock is the only AA that should be removed from MP. Jetpack dose not really bother me but it does seem to break gameplay on maps for obvious reasons.

Camo…meh, is what it is. Evade is just plain FUN.

Skilled co-ordinated Teams ‘-Yoink!-’ Armor Lock is what disgusts most AA ‘haters’.

Save them for campaign. However, I dont want them in multiplayer. Period.

No Armor Abilities in the Halo 4, please. We prefer to keep the way of Halo instead of Reach way. If you tune it to be pick up only or removed from the game which it is fine with me and other Halo veterans. With that way, Halo 4’s popularity will soar greatly than Reach does.

Also, I wouldn’t mind to having sprint integrated to the game-play because spring is most common in the video games, its essential to have one if you need to escape from something or have some kind of effect on the game-play such as escaping exploding stuff or get out from area that’s set to destruct.

Keeping them as a campaign add only? I’d rather have no armor ability period though.

People arnt getting my point. Im not talking about weather AA’s should be in Halo 4, im asking if a non AA sprint should be in halo 4

I think there should definitely be some kind of sprinting option in Halo 4, I hate the plodding pace that MC uses. Having Reach-style Armor Abilities in Halo 4 would not only break canon, but continuity as well (unless the planet he’s heading for is Forerunner and they give him some kind of armor powerups). Even including the same pickups as seen in Halo 3 would disappoint me, because of that continuity thing. If there’s anything like them, they should be unique to whatever planet he’s on this time.

But yes, to stay on topic in accordance with the first post, I think there should be a sprinting mechanic in the game.

I played CE since launch.
I like the concept of AA… BUT they should be pick ups only. Reusable pickups lol

But full agree to have Sprint added to the controller.
Though it leaves the question, if sprint is still LB and H4 decides to not use AA and a form of equipment, what will the equipment button be?

No compromise. Not only would it make no sense for Master Chief to have armor abilities…AA’s are the worst thing to come to Halo and disrupt the golden triangle.

I’m a Halo Vet. I liked the Armour Abilities. They gave a new level of playing the game. Except Armour Lock. I would like atlease Sprint for Halo 4. It doesn’t really break canon and I am sick of hearing people bash things just cause they don’t like them. I like the idea of compromise.

Keep AAs out of my Haloz pl0x =/

i just want to say to all that say it brake cannon what if that plant is onxy then there is a gruop of spartanIII ther that came form reach mening they have AA

Also your definalty right about Halo Veterans hating AAs such as myself. Considering myself being a Halo Legend for playing Halo CE since day 1 and having a Legit 46 in H2 and playing it religiously and competitively throughout its entire lifespan and having 6 Legit 50s and 48 in MB, RLD, SB, and a 49 in MLG FFA in H3 and playing it religiously and competitively till this day and still being beast at Reach even though I dont play it and still hate it. I would Also have like 10 montages if only someone captured for me. No need to brag but even stating all that I still hate AAs.

I would like just to have sprint in Halo 4 especially if there was a system to prevent people from using it as a quick escape, such as 3 Legged Goat’s idea that people would run slower when their shields are decreasing. It would make sense gameplay wise since the purpose of sprint should be to make encounters occur more quickly.

AA’s have been established and already have a strong fanbase. Don’t let a vocal minority represent the content majority. The only reason for wanting to get rid of AA’s is an inability to combat them. That’s your problem.

Yes, I agree that certain AA’s need tweaking, but I am certainly against their removal.

I’m a halo veteran, been playing since halo 2. I like armor abilitys it adds variety to the gameplay and the only reason people are -Yoink- about armor lock is because they don’t know how to use it. Besides were having armor abilitys anyways a jetpack was in the preview for halo 4. Halo reach was basically the beta test to get 343 ready for halo 4 so don’t get pissed off if it’s somewhat similar.
