My idea was to have the armor coating be the default setting but allow customization of the pallet, this way they could offer special colors for the shop and still have some free options with some basic colors.

They’d probably have a lot less to monetize but I’m for that idea as well.

Yes and no. I’m pretty sure a lot of people would be ready to buy more stuff, granted that their spartan would then be able to look more unique. I know I would.
Honestly we NEED this to come infinite, it just doesn’t feel right knowing that we can’t even decide our own spartan color schemes anymore.

So the bringing it back to how every other multicolor customization option in Halo was then?
If you’ve ever played or seen Anthem’s system, it’s like that. Each of the seven channels can have a color selected and/or a texture selected to create the ultimate custom color scheme.

Honestly I don’t believe at the core of Infinity it was truly bout the players I think it was just a corporate take on taking a franchise and trying to monetize it to all hell and just run with that and grind as much money as possible out of a player base.
They are doing this by taking existing stuff that was normally free and selling it to you at a drip feed speed.
Than removing game modes and playlist just to use them as filler for events. And than they have the Audacity to say oh look we have a free event Battlepass with so much content… You look at the content and it’s one helmet… The rest is the same armor coating 5 times because it goes to different things instead of being universal.
Let’s be honest Either 343 lacks the ability to create so much content and just have the game.bursring with customizations outside the store . And or they are doing this slow/ limited timegated paywall method to simply suck us dry
That’s what I am saying, it’s not focused on the customization for the player, it takes its view from the point that one has to either wait, and therefore buy coating when released, or buy multiple similar coatings by not knowing when one’s favorite is going to be on store.
By that view, buying single coatings is not beneficial at all for the seller: the solution to that would be to sell one coating by the same price as the hole, or more, or rather include more elements in one pack to sell at a fixed price.
At any point, it means 343 have to rearrange all scheduled and the structure of customization.
Back again, it would be nice, but it’d be nice as well if y’all think on the weight 343 takes by those changes.
But it’s fine by commenting it, 'cause this may happen to be noticed and discussed for the game development.
Having looked at what was shown in the post on reddit I really like this idea. The classic choose your colors that comes usually with halo, and 343 creating patterns and designs for armors customization would be the perfect system.

Honestly, I think 343i should do a complete overhaul of the store. Just refund everyone their credits, revert battle pass credits, but keep battle pass progress so people can repurchase it again.
In this overhaul they should cut prices, implement this type of customization, and make armor obtainable through progress while selling newer models in shop individually at a cheaper rate outside of “daily bundles.”
The monetization desperately needs this approach

I agree with this but, considering anything that happens to the store is likely going to go through multiple levels of management BS to happen, I doubt we are going to see any meaningful changes for at least 2 months.

Since this is the second highest top post on the waypoint forums, has anyone from 343 commented on this at all or are they just ignoring it? I think this is a really solid idea that will benefit the game in the long run.

I highly doubt they are ignoring this issue. It’s more likey that because customization, with color selection in particular, is so heavily tied to the cash shop there is a lot of discussion that needs to be held with management before anything can be said publicly.
As much as I’d like to see a quick resolution to this problem, my guess is we probably won’t see much till mid January at the earliest.

Did anyone realize that this week’s reward (12/14/2021 - 12/21/2021) is just a pathetic and sad background for the player’s name?
Being one of the people who do the challenges to be able to get modifications in the appearance of my character, I see with great disappointment that this week is going to reward you for playing the game at least 12 hours with such a bad reward. Please 343, motivate your community and your player base to continue to exalt the game, avoid disappointments in the players like the one that took me today, and stop boycotting such a good game with such poor rewards.

so this week they finally added the ONLY white armor coating available for Mark 5B, and it’s stuck with an orange secondary color, and EXCLUSIVE to the limited time $20 bundle. COME ON man! This really sucks!
