Hello, first post on the forum.
I believe that the new threat is probably a species we never before encountered. One that may have been bioengineered by the precursors. Or they could just have their own agenda. But that’s just my opinion. I’ll like to know what you think about idea.
I think it could be Forerunners because some survived the activation of the Halo array by hiding in a Shield World. Requiem is a Shield World so Forerunners could be in there.

The Forerunner Saga does suggest that as a valid possibility.
I believe its been confirmed its gonna be the forerunners but i could be wrong dont quote me. The reason i think its the forerunners is because master chief is heading into a forerunner shield world.
The most popular theory is that it is the Precursors themselves. I personally am hoping for something other than that. I would much rather it be a alien species that was locked up by the Forerunners inside the Requiem sphere.

Humans have been on plenty of Forerunner installations and the Forerunners are nowhere to be seen. Not saying they aren’t on Requiem, but I don’t see them fulfilling an antagonist role.
Possibly…
Never thought of it like that before.
I myself think the last remaining Precursor, whom was believed to be dead, is the Ancient Evil.
And being of the Tier 0 level, he could have revived dead Precursors or created new Precursors.
Or maybe, like you said, he bioengineered a totally new fiersome species whom were made to kill.

Scary thought, I know…
I personally think that the Forerunners, if not immediately, will absolutely end up on humanity’s side. I mean, they made us the Reclaimers, right? And they let us use their technology and not any other species. We stopped the Flood, at least a large chunk of it in our galaxy. The Didact, Librarian, and any other possible survivors would for sure be on humanity’s side.

Maybe there are forerunners that survived the activation of the Halo Array, but what reason would they want to fight us? Master Chief has faced forerunner tech numerous times. It’s tough, but it’s beatable. What could the forerunners have that could actually scare us.

Reclaimers of what exactly? The mantle? Dominion over the Milky Way. In my opinion reclaimer is just a word. All the forerunners did was give us the ability to use their tech. Why?
I believe that the forerunners were not only at war with the flood, but also with the precursors as well. In the end they lost control and had no option but to fire the array. It destroyed the flood, but the precursors fled the galaxy. Now it’s up to humanity to use forerunner technology to defect the ancient threat when it returns.
In the meantime, the precursors have created some biomechanical organism that makes the flood look like silly pudding.
Can you imagine how many different possibilities of species there are that we could fight?
The Precurosrs created and destroyed life as if it were a hobby, so the amount of species and possibilities and variations of them could be substantial.
I can’t wait for this game.
I don’t get why people think it’ll be precursors. If it were, they would massacre the entire human race within minutes. They’re way too powerful.
The prescursors do make species, so they could theoretically be something completely unheard of.
But if they were completely new, are they really ancient?
Now we just have to figure out how this “ancient enemy” managed to take over the Forerunner shield world of Requiem.

The precursors that we’ve read about in the Forerunner Saga may not be the same as the ones in the new trilogy. But I have no doubt they will appear in some form. The precursors are supposed to evolved into the perfect entity. They’ll have changed over the pass 100,000 years or so.

Depends on when the species was created. It may have been just before the array was fired.

Maybe the entire game doesn’t take place on Requiem. Master Chief crashes, explores, learns about the new threat, maybe comes in contact with the ancient enemy’s equivalent of shock troopers. A advance scout party sent to Requiem in search of forerunners.

Sounds about right,
Frankie did say in the latest Halo 4 video that Master Chief would be spending MOST of the game on Requiem.

We’ll defiantly be spending a great deal of time on Requiem. But when it’s all said and done, Master Chief will board the Infinity and leave. I remember seeing the Infinity in orbit of a unknown planet. It may be the interior of Requiem, but I don’t think the Infinity will physically enter the shield world during the game. I could be wrong.
I think the Forerunner’s ultimate goal is to reestablish the domain, and somehow humans are involved.
Opposing them are the Precursors/their species, who wish to reclaim the galaxy.
By re accessing the domain, the Forerunners will discover how they beat the Precursors >150000 years ago, and end the ancient enemy’s threat on the galaxy forever.
Plausible?
Humans, since they are now the dominant species in the Orion Arm assuming the Covenant is too busy fighting itself, are the key to unlocking the domain.
