A Competitive view on Maps and game types .

Slayer
Ok on even balanced maps
Not ok on 1-sided maps
1 team should not have an upper hand simply because they are RED and spawn closer to Rockets/sniper/tank.
I just want to see symmetrical competitive maps. I’m tired of maps like Sword Base where Red Team gets obvious advantage

static spawns, more symmetrical maps
balanced and useful vehicles.

Classic game types

1-Flag on one sided maps/smaller maps - symmetrical maps ok

Multi Flag CTF - symmetrical maps only - p.s. let us juggle the flag thanks

Neutral Bomb Assault - symmetrical maps only

1 Bomb Assault on one sided maps/ smaller maps - symmetrical maps ok

Territories ok on both one sided maps and symmetrical maps

Yes that’s what im trying to get across to people Balanced maps are better for everyone .

I’d love to see some more BALANCED asymmetrical maps in slayer. I’m working on one right now in Reach that takes design cues from Guardian and Powerhouse, and if it ends up playing well, I’ll rebuild it in Halo 4.

I just REALLY want to see more good asymmetrical maps.

Yes balanced maps are key to Good Slayer games

Didn’t 343i say they were building more classic style symmetrical/asymmetrical maps with the competitive player in mind? But yes I hope to see more maps like Beaver Creek, The Pit, and Guardian.

Yes they did kind of .

But its more about what game types work on what maps and so on .

Maps don’t have to be symmetrical in order to be fair or balanced, but it sure is easier to make a balanced symmetrical map, you’ll only have to make it half-right then clone it ^^

good example of balanced asymmetrical map- Longshore

Spawning randomly around the map on a Team game not fun for anyone .

Slayer: A game that rewards players for their kills, not points of HOW they killed the opponent.

I dislike stockpile and dont ever want to play it again …

The only time I like 1-sided maps is for 1-sided objective gametypes. 1 bomb, 1 flag, etc.

Speaking of maps I felt they were overlooked as being part of the problem for reach

BTB maps in Reach are the worst when it comes to bad slayer maps .

I disliked a lot of Reach’s maps. At their best - for me that includes Powerhouse, Anchor 9, Condemned, Zealot, and Countdown if I’m feeling generous - Reach’s maps would be considered mediocre next to the maps from other Halo games. I just think that the Bungie guys were out of steam when it came to Reach’s maps. You can’t make absolutely incredible multiplayer maps 100% of the time. I mean… Spire? Ugh. Boneyard? Bleeegh. Boardwalk? No. What happened to all of my favourite maps like Wizard, Prisoner, Sidewinder, Chill Out, Relic, Terminal, Turf, Headlong, High Ground (oh GOD High Ground…), The Pit, Sandtrap… okay, I could do this all day.

If 343 truly is taking cues from previous Halo games, hopefully they’ll be able to bring back the magic of old maps all while adding something new in the process. I miss the days of Halo 2 when I’d be okay with being on any map. I get a good feeling from what I’ve seen of Wraparound, but that’s probably just because it reminds me so much of Narrows (thinking back, I actually liked that map).

Yeah reach maps were not great and 90% of HALO 2 & HALO 3 maps were great but the remakes for REACH were good in my mind…

Lets hope 343I gets it right for HALO 4
