A competitive Halo 4 but still fun for casual gamers

Just wanted to render a list of suggestions that will give myself and the competitive community what we want without changing the game for casual players.

Competitive Hopper
The competitive hopper would include the following playlists ranked using TrueSkill,

  • FFA
  • Team Doubles
  • Team Slayer
  • MLG
  • MLG FFA

Settings for non MLG Playlists:

  • BR Starts,
  • No Armor Ability’s or Sprint,
  • 5 Seconds Respawn Slayer, 10 Seconds for Objective
  • 110% Movement and jump height
  • Flag juggling enabled
  • No custom maps
  • Human weapons and loadouts only
  • Reduce weapon count on maps
  • Drop spawned weapons
  • Static one side spawn for spawn manipulation

Casual Hopper
Whatever you want casual community, Sprint armor lock, hell team rockets for all I care.

Can we not split the community up by playstyle.
At the end of the day if there is not a home for the very large competitive community that was present during the early days of Halo 3 then Halo 4 will not surpass it’s predecessor.

Feel free to comment and leave “EDUCATED” “NON RANTING OR FLAMING” Advice or your opinions.

I think this would have been a great idea for Reach but I’d prefer people to see the new perks/loadouts/AA’s in action before agreeing or disagreeing with it. We just don’t have enough information right now, but I do think the idea is fine

MLG decides it’s settings.

Who knows, we might not need some of this stuff because 343 might just be intelligent enough to make the game competitive out of the box like Halo CE, 2 and 3.

lol.

I said non MLG settings, I know MLG make their own settings I tested V7 with Killa KC and some other randomized testers several weeks ago.

Halo 3 wasn’t really a good game. Only better than Reach, and that’s not saying much. Halo 2 is the ideal multiplayer game to base everything else off of. IN FACT people still play Halo 2 TODAY!!! That’s how good of a game Halo 2 was. See for yourself on Xbox connect (XBC).

-whydo we need drop respawns
-some people like sprint…
-you say 110% speed and jump but you dont know what they are at base levels so that is -useless…
-i like some covy weapons so why can i not play ranked with them…
-why reduce the weapon count???
-we dont need only BR starts, mix it up a bit buddy come on!!!

Miss read, my bad.

Point still stands though, we shouldn’t need such settings, they should be default.

Those games just happened to be competitive out of sheer luck. Without button combos halo 2 would of not be nearly as competitive. And lets not get into why halo 3 wasnt either.

They still worked for all parties.

Halo 2s problems were in the huge aim assist and magnetism.

Halo 3s problems were in poor netcode and BR spread.

Why doesn’t 343 do the intelligent thing, fix what is broken while keeping the core game intact? That works wonders for the game they are trying so hard to copy.

-Dropped weapon respawns make the weapons spawn on time which adds more strategy. It’s annoying when you set up for a power weapon and it unexpectantly spwans 30 seconds late.
-Most of the people who played ranked in H2/H3 don’t like AAs. Don’t contest that, you’re only kidding yourself.
-I think he just means increased movement speed which is good because it makes strafing better.
-Agreed.
-Agreed.
-In ranked/competitive play BR/DMR starts get chosen almost all the time so I think all games should be BR starts.

Statistical proof?

No Armour Lock.

That is all.

I don’t have any hard proof. Just experience. I played with many people in Halo 3 in ranked playlists of varying skill levels. I played with them in Reach too. In general they didn’t like AAs as it didn’t feel competitive and right for ranked play. As a result many of them left to go play CoD Black Ops. I don’t really blame them. Halo got worse with Reach and CoD got better with Black Ops. And I do have the numbers to prove that. XD

Ah Camel we meet yet again. You really are a forum loiterer aren’t you. You know if you spent as much time playing Halo as you have putting up pro sprint arguments in these forums you might actually understand where most of us experienced players are coming from. =)

I agree in everything else than 10 second spawntimer in Objective.

Quake isn’t fun for casuals? Street Fighter isn’t fun for casuals? TF2 isn’t fun for casuals? Star Craft isn’t fun for casuals? UT isn’t fun for casuals? The division between “casual” and “competitive” players in Halo needs to come to an end, and making separate playlists within Halo 4 for competitive and casual players isn’t helping anybody.

It’s pretty simple really. People are different and have differing preferences. People also get bored of the same thing over and over again, they appreciate variety. Thus the playlists cater to a wide majority of tastes, thus pleasing as close to everybody as is ever going to happen.

Oh, and on a side note, I’m afraid I don’t enjoy any of those games.

My hope is that MLG doesn’t even need to change any gametypes or maps.

CoD does the same thing over and over again with just different guns and maps. Same thing really. Your logic would say that that people would be bored with that now yet its as popular as ever. Why is that?
