I know this is gonna sound like a repeat of what everyone else rants about, but the forums don’t have a decent search bar for finding similar threads to post in.
Anyway, jumping right into it:
DMR: I have a love/hate relationship with this gun. It “feels” rewarding to use it, but I just feel dirty using it because it is overpowered. In my opinion, reduce the rate of fire by 15% (plus or minus 5%) and remove hitscan for ranges greater than 150 meters (give or take 25 meters). That will make the gun harder to use at close range, and it won’t suffocate map movement on larger maps because you get pinged from so far away from the DMR.
Boltshot: Everybody’s new favorite rage machine. Fix the overcharge to only be able to strip shields with more than 70% of their capacity remaining. Less than 70%, and then it’s understandable that it can kill you.
Personal Ordinance: Personally, power weapons annoy me in Halo. They’re there to give a team an edge and I understand that, but good lord they’re over-abundant in Halo 4 because of personal ordinances. Rather than do away with this new mechanic, how about cut power weapons out if a player dies between their ordinance rewards. That way, people who are on a roll are rewarded, and people who fail like I do don’t get rewarded with an Incinerator Cannon by filling up their ordinance meter with assists and comeback kills.
Random Ordinance Drops: I can see the novelty for Team Fiesta, but standard playlists is annoying. For me, part of the magic of Halo 3 was getting the other team out of the sword room on The Pit, and trolling the rocket launcher hall. Now, it’s just chaos. I can hold one building on Complex for one match, but the next time nobody is interested in going there because the (random power weapon) spawned somewhere else. Set fixed, consistent weapon drops like the old days on the maps and let strategy prevail once more.
Playlists: It’s as if Social Slayer and Ranked Slayer were Romeo & Juliet and they both died in a very melodramatic fashion. The competitive community had their niche and the casuals like me had theirs. Yet some fool thought it would be a good idea merge them. Slap yourself. The competitive players don’t want to play with me and I don’t really want to play with them. Just make an Infinity Social Slayer, and an Infinity Ranked Slayer. “It aren’t that hard!”
Oh, and bring back Lone Wolves, Big Team Battle, and Team Objective. You’re not being innovative by making new playlists and cutting classic ones, that’s called being an idiot.
My last rant (which is surprisingly more opinionated than the previous sections of this post): Get Complex the Hell out of Infinity Slayer and into Big Team! Guardian from Halo 3 is the epitome of what a standard team slayer map’s size should be. Not too big, not too small. If it takes more than 15 seconds to find a member of the other team, then the map is too big.
Anyway, that’s all I have to add. Be gentle if you disagree and feel free to add more.
