A case similarility between H2 and H5:G

The back of the case for the original Xbox version of Halo 2 says this:

"EARTH WILL NEVER BE THE SAME"

The destruction of Halo slowed the Covenant, but it did not stop them. Fueled by faith, fury, and vengeance, they have swept aside all of our defenses and gained a foothold on the most precious prize of all – Earth. With the human military scattered and crushed, the fate of the planet lies in the hands of one man. Spartan 117 – the Master Chief. But resourceful and tenacious as he is, the Master Chief will have to rely on new weapons, unexpected allies and a secret so incredible, it will change the Galaxy forever.

The back of Halo 5: Guardians says this: (references to multiplayer omitted)

"THE HUNT FOR THE TRUTH BEGINS"

AN UNSTOPPABLE FORCE
threatens the galaxy, unless the Master Chief can be found.

AN INTENSE NEW STORY
Explore and conquer three new worlds as the Master Chief and Spartan Locke…

Both have misleading elements. For Halo 5, it’s pretty obvious to everyone here that it lies in the beginning statement.

For Halo 2, I’d say it was the part in the description about the galaxy-changing secret. There was no galaxy-changing secret in Halo 2.

That’s a thing alright

tl;dr xD

Made me laugh haha.

Okay okay, finished the edit.

I’m not sure what you are trying to point out…

> AN UNSTOPPABLE FORCE
> threatens the galaxy, unless the Master Chief can be found.

This is kinda true. But is Cortana the threat or the guardians?

As for Halo 2 I do agree with you there was no apparent change to the galaxy from what I remember. I am currently in progress of completing the Legend achievement from TMCC so my opinion might change, but until then, no change in the galaxy to me

Halo 2 got away with some “misleading” statements because it just started where Halo CE left off, which is a perfectly acceptable and welcomed place for a sequel to start and take place. Also, the story itself was amazing.

Halo 5 didn’t get away with it, because it started in a random moment in time, introduced a ton of random characters no one knows about (Yet the game makes it as if you SHOULD already know them), no character development, an overall predictable plot, and subpar storytelling. And, imo, the levels are so linear in design.
Go play Halo 3’s “The Covenant” mission and then play any level in Halo 5 and you’ll see how linear it is.

I will agree with the Arbiter’s side of things being amazing, but Master Chief’s side of things was just bland story-wise, in Halo 2.

Personally, first time I played through the Halo 5 campaign, I used the Artemis, and whatever the Chief’s equivalent is, to find my way out of an area quite a few times. I would say that even if it is linear, it offers enough alternate passages and verticality in a situation to at least confuse the player into thinking that it isn’t linear.

The level “The Covenant” is, in my opinion, very straightforward. It does, however, give two or three slightly different routes in most or all situations throughout, giving it the appearance of being more open. Unfortunately, a Banshee wasn’t one of them.

The only truly open part of the level is probably the Scarab battle.

The secret was the great journey being a lie I think.

Pretty lame secret, since we knew about that since Halo: CE. It was just watching the Arbiter and the Elites catch up with that fact.

Its all just puffery anyway.

This was the secret. That all halo arrays could be remotely fired from the arc.

Halo 2, save Earth!

3 missions later…

We’re leaving Earth!
