a brand new game engine

From reading the most popular topic so far, I think that we should just go from scratch and make a brand new game engine. So that it can handle all the game types and stuff, for more proof here it is, 343 this will help you get your old players back

I also prefer if some respond with this idea

No bumping op

I most definitely agree with you, mainly because of how CoD has not further advanced their content after using the same Quake 3 engine from the 1990s. There should be a new engine that can help 343 build the game off more expansively and easily. But be careful: development of game engines can take a lot of time to actually try establishing without any major errors. This would be very time consuming for game development, and I don’t know if 343 can really afford such time away from building halo 6, especially considering how far they spread themselves thin during halo 5’s development.

oops thank you for reminding me

oh yeah right this is a tip, never modify your game engine until you can’t modify it anymore, that’s a tip.

Yeah and then guess what OP. Waypoint -Yoinks!- and moans about the brand new engine and how it isn’t good enough.

And why, with a new game engine we can get more game modes and have 60fps, split screen to help everyone be less bipolar and more of a helping community. And you have no proof.

or make link if you do

Halo 2A used the Halo 4 engine and that had all the modes, 60fps, 1080p and Split Screen.

The Halo 5 engine couldn’t do the modes and split screen because they wanted the engine to be able to handle the Online only REQ system and big Warzone mode to sell REQs through. These changes along with the gameplay changes, and the time it took to make REQs and Warzone was enough to break everything else and stop them from working, without enough time to fix it all.

If you really want all the good stuff back in you should promote dumping the bad Halo 5 engine and return to the Halo 2A engine.

Why? A game engine is just a collection of common functions to game development. This way when you want to render an object, or make it move, you don’t have to write code every time. You just load in your art asset with a UI, or write move(warthog).

Engines can become out of date, say that rendering function is from the 90s, it probably doesn’t make the full use of the GPU. This is when you update or modify your engine, tear open the render function code and update it for 2016. The nice thing is, if the engine is built right, the other pieces don’t care that the render function has changed, they just keep using it.

To rewrite the entire engine would be a massive amount of work. And it would probably be a very buggy experience because it wouldn’t have been thoroughly tested by millions and millions of players. 343 just overhauled the Blam Engine and it set them back six months.

Tl;Dr rewriting the engine would be a pointless exercise that wouldn’t improve Halo noticeably and would result in bugs galore and fewer features than H5 for at least the first release.

You do realize that is what a new engine basically is right? Also if you think you will get more gametypes if they make a new engine than you are crazy as hell. Say hello to a Halo game that launches 4 years from now and makes Halo 5’s gametype selection look like a library.

That isn’t the reason for the lack of split screen, the reason is because they tied physics to framerate. If it dropped below 60 things wouldn’t work as well as they should.

So I’m gonna report the thread because this could have easily been added to mine instead of making your own.

I really don’t think 343I has the talent to create a new game engine. Not trying to sound derogatory, but that’s just was I’ve came to realize with Halo 4, MCC, and now Halo 5.

Which isn’t an issue for the Halo 2A engine. Tying the frame rate to the physics engine is a complete noob move by 343i. It’s such a noob move that most people don’t believe that they actually did it, and that it was just an excuse for it not having split screen.

Get Dice in on the Halo action. Frostbite engine ftw. Imagine what Dice could do for Warzone.

Snitch lol

that would be be great. Imagine the Starwars Graphics in Halo. Damn

They are working on a sort of a new engine, someone from 343 was talking about how much more annoying it is with the xbox one because they can’t copy over the gamemodes from the previous halos they do have to remake them for xbox one

Um his proof is the forum you’re currently browsing. It doesn’t matter what we have or how good it is, people will always -Yoink- and moan. You can never please everyone, there will always be something one person hates and another person loves. For instance, lots of people complain about no splitscreen but I feel like it makes my online experience way better.
