With Escharum set to appear as the main villain in the upcoming Halo Infinite, can we expect to see a boss fight in the new Halo video game where Master Chief have to fight Escharum?
it is definitely a possibility. The game may end on a cliffhanger as well where Escharum does something crazy and then the follow up campaign will finish the fight.

I have this idea about the boss fight in Halo Infinite. And I am very curious to hear from you. What if the upcoming Halo Infinite is actually a two part storylines? I am thinking like in Halo Infinite “Part One” story, the boss fight is a very small fight where it will have a cliffhanger. Then, in Halo Infinite “Part Two” story, we will get a rematch between Master Chief and Escharum. That’s where we will get an epic fight between the two of them in Halo Infinite “Part Two” story. Very curious to hear your thoughts.
I think Escharum is supposed to have like 4 or 5 cronies, who I assume will work as mini-bosses on the way to him.
My home is that if they do give us boss fights, they make them interesting, rather than bullet sponges. Halo 2 sort of did this, by having Johnson take down Tartarus’ shields so you could attack, but it was still simple bullet sponge after that.
For instance, have the environment play a role in how how you take the bosses down.

Couldn’t agree more. Playing solo legendary against the Warden Eternal was not even remotely challenging or fun. It was just peak, move, peak, move and hope you don’t get one hit killed and have to start from the beginning. Making enemies bullet sponges is not higher difficulty. It’s boring and negatively affects gameplay. Enemies should only be slightly more sturdy, do more damage, be more aggressive and tactful.
In FPS games the best way to make the boss more challenging and interesting is to have them have different attack patterns and the more difficult to handle attacks are used more frequently at a higher level. Bullet time bosses do this the best. Give them a weak spot to attack but on a harder difficulty they make it harder to hit by protecting it and moving more. There are so many options outside of let’s just give them 2x health and 3x resistance to weapons. Always annoyed me how on the harder difficulties some weapons become pretty much useless.
I would think it is safe to say a boss fight of some sorts is inevitable. It is a staple of a Halo Campaign to have at least 1.

Yes. Couldn’t agree more with this. Give each boss an interesting mechanic you have to work out and overcome, bullet sponges just suck. I mean, look at the Metal Gear Solid series. Sure, you were still essentially just shooting each boss (with a couple exceptions) but each one still felt unique and interesting to fight by giving them their very own gimmicks.
Psycho Mantis you had to play from a player 2 controller so he couldn’t read your mind and counter your moves. Ocelot In MGS1 could ricochet bullets around corners but you couldn’t just spray at him or toss grenades because the area was loaded with explosives that would kill you too. Vamp could freeze you in place and you’d have to shoot his projectiles out of the air while immobilized to survive.
I think the best boss fight we’ve got from the series so far is Regret, hands down. Having to fight not just him but his personal honor guards too, all while forcing players to get close so they can board his chair to punch him in the face over and over again was such a better take than just “shoot at the glowing spot until he dies”.
I want to see some Titanfall 2 boss battle style.
I think the coolest boss fights in all of Halo is fighting the Scarabs (Halo 3)
I honestly hope we get the Grunt Mech back for Infinite.
I almost guarantee we’ll run into Jega 'Rdmomai multiple times as his character biography made it sound like he’s hunting Chief. Encounters would likely progress the plot at various points and eventually a last stand, whether within the initial campaign or DLC expansions later on.
boss battles for me are mandatory in this game.

There is multiple boss encounters in the game.

I would love to fight grunt mech in campaign.
I would like to fight the inquisitor in firefight

I don’t think we’ll get a full resolution for Chief’s story in the initial campaign of Halo Infinite at all. They want this to be a new jumping off point for fans both old and new so I doubt very much that the core conflict will be resolved in this first campaign. I definitely agree with you that there is going to be a part two and possibly more parts after to fill out Infinite’s 10 year life cycle with stories and campaigns to complete. The only other solution I can think of is that they do resolve the entire story in this initial Infinite campaign and then create other campaigns later that focus on other characters besides Chief in order to flesh out the universe of Halo more. The most logical and likely outcome we’ll get is probably a mixture of the two over a 10 year or longer period, however long they want and plan to keep Infinite around as the main game.

This. I forsee, at least if 343 is smart, at least one campaign “chapter” of 3-4 hours or so come out every year. It would be cool if the campaigns were loosely connected, ala H3 and ODST, and all together told a bigger story, maybe even come with their own events for the liveservice.

It almost like the upcoming Halo Infinite will follow in a similar way like how Kevin Feige did with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It took ten years to finally see the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy teaming up to fight Thanos.
I have mentioned this before. I still think that 343 Industries will do the 10 years plan for Halo Infinite in a similar way like the Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently doing. They can have their own Phase One, Phase Two and Phase Three. Within those chapters, they can build up to where we can finally see Master Chief, Arbiter and Jerome-092 teaming up to fight Atriox and Escharum.
Halo boss battles have been terrible, in my opinion. I much prefer being overwhelmed by hordes of enemies to navigating cheep boss “traits” like invulnerability, teleportation, homing missiles, etc. not to mention the dull fights that make you feel like your up against a tank with only a bb gun. If you call a scarab a boss battle, then I agree that those fights are a lot of fun, at least in H3 (H2 you weren’t really fighting a scarab).
