With forge, there are a lot of maps that players create that are really amazing. However, are really huge that not even a 12v12 can fill.
I feel like these maps are wasted potential of fun for multiplayer, nevertheless custom games. I would normally like a new multiplayer mode, prob called BBTB (Bigger Big Team Battle ) to be revealed and be played officially. But besides that, at least start for custom games. Maybe in the future, option to increase the player cap to a higher limit of, IMO, 24v24 maximum?
Just that these player-created maps should have the opportunity to be enjoyed to their fullest capacity, literally.
Would be nice, but unlikely to happen. The default maps wouldnât work with higher player numbers I think. I think some forgers get a little overambitious and carried away, trying to make the map as big as the canvas allows and ending up with long stretches of nothing. Detailing and testing a small or medium map is already a huge timesink, so they end up with boring unispired unbalanced maps with empty ugly terrain.
Check my map Palm City, midsize BTB map, took a crapton of time and effort to detail, balance and make fun with good pacing of engagements. I canât imagine trying to fill a map 4 times the size with intricate detail. I managed to make every area detailed and unique with no copypaste and it nearly killed me lol. So my advice to BTB forgers is not to bite off more than they can chew.
I get some default maps wont work. But some games have modes where the they have specific maps for that mode. This can be said for Halo Infinite. After all, Halo 5 warzone had specific maps that couldnât be played as well.
As it may be true, making big maps is one thing, but making a good one is another. I feel like if the map is big enough to work with a wider server limit, it should be big enough to not feel too compact and confined. Enough room to feel free to move.
There are definitely a lot of maps that arenât like this. If anything, as long as their arenât unnecessary pathways can the map feel relevant. I see a few that are actually really good length for ground and vehicle infantry.
I feel like a wider server size shouldnât even feel like a BTB at that point. Kind of like how Warzone and BTB in Halo 5 felt like actual two different modes, a BBTB should feel the exact same way.
You will have a hard time actually running with your mates. Itâs already nigh on impossible to get your posse in the same warthog.
Objective games just become more random. There is pretty much no co-ordination in an 8 spartan team. Let alone 12. And now we want to up the number?
More players just means bigger maps⌠so ostensibly itâs shouldnât be much different. And if you do somehow end up with all those players in the same area - itâs too crowded. You canât make sense of whatâs going on and you just end up dying in some random cross fire you have zero control over.
1: I donât think this is even the biggest problem. A full razorback just to mess around and get blown up and give the enemy a multikill is just trolling.
2: There was never supposed to be coordination? The point is to just experience a more open experience. There has never been coordination in a 8v8 or any wide-player server in many other games. How come youâre expecting extra in Halo?
3: This is the point. After all, there were bigger BTB maps for 8v8 before Halo Infinite. Blood Gulch, Valhalla. Even smaller BTB maps back in Halo 5. Hell, Halo 5 warzone had the biggest maps and still had the 12v12 like Infinite, and there wasnât a problem of you stating âcant make sense on whats going onâ and dying across the map. Whatever larger map that Infinite packs up, the server size should handle it. After all, Im not asking for a 32v32. I say 24v24 as a maximum cap as its just a plus 12. So by that, I am still open to smaller numbers.
Doesnât automatically mean giving up a multikill.
Unless my mate Snoozer is driving. Heâs a death trap.
But bigger maps / more players just equals less time playing along side your mates.
Which is probably why I donât like BTB. Except to play with friends.
Objective games seem a bit pointless.
There are too many people just sitting there curating their KD.
And if you do come up against a co-ordinated team you get slaughtered and the forums are alight with complaints against sweaty players or anti-SBMM.
But I digress.
I was specifically talking about those times when you get way too many people in a small area. It already happens.
But I admit⌠I am not necessarily the target audience for this stuff.
I definitely prefer 8v8 to 12v12. I donât play warzone et al. I donât get the buzz of wanting more players on bigger maps.
I want to spawn and in and get stuck into the action. I donât want to be in an area where there isnât anyone to shoot. And I donât want to be in an area where there are too many people shooting at everyone else.
343 once spoke about the importance of âcuratingâ the experience. I imagine it becomes exponentially harder to control the flow of action with more players on bigger maps.
And Iâm sure the are also conscious of how the engine will run with that many players / vehicles / weapons. Especially on the lower spec PC or Xboxes.
I guess my idea wasnât jsut meant for you. BTB isnât at all your playstyle so now I was would assume youâd be against the idea. But this is for further expressing the casual and freedom of the players that do enjoy BTB and larger modes.
I would like to see a 24vs24 Big Team Battle as well - with that each team could be split into four, manageable squads of 6 players. The settings could also be made applicable by the author in Forge.
In past Halo games Bungie used to release a 6v6 playlist, so fingers crossed 343i might release an 8v8 playlist (doubtful but fingers crossed) they already have a ton of maps ready to be remade in infinite.
Personally Iâd like an 8v8 clasic mode but thatâll never happen because if its a popular and successful playlist then it proves 343i donât have a clue with what theyâre doing.
i think its better that warzone makeâs its return then something like this since its better to have something return that we know and was populier then something like this when the basic Big team battle is not that good at all in the first place.
