NOTE: THIS IS ONLY FOR THOSE PREVIEW MEMBERS USING THE NEW XBOX ONE EXPERIENCE UI, IT WILL NOT WORK FOR THE STANDARD UI.
Okay guys, so credit where it’s due, GHUNTERthaFIRST figured this one out.
If you’re using the New Xbox One Experience Preview and your 9gb update has not installed, there is a way to get it begin.
First, make sure you have the full 46.2gb (or 46.1gb depending on whatever extra content you may have) installed and not just the place holder. Also, make sure it is on you INTERNAL HDD. If you’ve moved it to an external, move it back to the internal before doing this because when I tried, it attempted to install the full game on my internal whilst I still had it on my external, instead of just updating like it should have done.
Okay,
press the menu button on Halo 5 and select “Go to game hub”
select “see in store”
the option on the far left will say “install”, select it, and it will begin installing the update.

This only works if you have the preview of the New Xbox One Experience. If you have the standard UI, they’re rolling out the update in waves, so not everyone’s gotten it yet. Some people have gotten it to kick off with a hard-reset, though.

Call me impatient. lol
Well guys, it may not be necessary, but it will give you a head start if you have less than satisfactory internet speed.

Then yes, do this. When it’s done, your numbers may not change. Mine didn’t at first. But if you check your broadband usage, you’ll see it installed. I actually got annoyed and uninstalled the game and reinstalled the entire thing using this method just to get the numbers to match (and yes, I did the math, I uninstalled 54 gigs, so it wasn’t necessary).

Either the installation happened while I was getting a snack, or the text needed to refresh, but a hard reset did the trick.
