Genuine question…we all know that last weeks HCS event got approx 100k and that is being used by some as testament to a strong and vibrant active playerbase, so how do those same people explain how on an average day without HCS or pro players streaming, Halo Infinite has as many viewers as Farming Simulator? Even content providers on YouTube are stating that the viewership outside of HCS is literally “abysmal” and “non existent”.
You don’t get stadiums filling up with spectators to watch their favorite sporting teams practice.
FPS like halo are way more fun to play than to watch (for most people).
The argument was never that the HCS or streaming numbers proved viability for HCS or streaming, but contrasting the historically bad streaming numbers that halo does get with the event numbers showed that there was still a solid fan base, even if it was to only get their shiney drops. (Because why would you want a drop for a game you don’t play?)
So why do lots of other streamers playing other games have such good viewership when they aren’t playing in tournaments either?
I’m not sure, I don’t watch them either. I don’t know anyone that enjoys halo and spends any significant time watching twitch. I’m sure there are plenty out there, maybe even on the forums, maybe they can answer that question.
I dunno. But I do know that after halo 3, starting with Reach mlg halo or hcs halo or pro halo or whatever you call it, died.
They paid ninja 30 million to leave twitch to try and save mixer.
Major difference starting with halo 1, was that pro halo gaming happened almost organically.
