98,000 viewers - HCS Winter

It would hold more weight if all the viewers weren’t bribed with the all mighty cosmetics to be there. No one really wants to watch people play video games, that’s lame as hell

Everything is lame to someone.

No it’s not. It’s not about the Esports, lmao. It’s about gauging how many active Halo players want to get something for the game they play.

…Where have you been in the last 15 years? Honest question.

Ehm… you know that even official battlefield 2042 streams had viewbots to fake high popularity? And this is proofed…

“It’s fake, it’s all fake, Halo is dying, Halo is dying!”

Halo’s decomposing bro lmao. Trust me, replay all the games without any bias and you’ll see the insane abyss between the Bungie era and the 343 one.

It should have been just a hint, that your statement is not valid at all. It is just annoying that especially you say, that every topic against Halos “healthy” playerbase is invalid and using steam player counts would be naive, while you use completely irrelevant and not trustworthy stream numbers as a “proof” for your argumentation.

Leaving Twitch running in the background for free limited time stuff doesn’t mean you play or enjoy the current state of the game. I only play Infinite one day per event, to grind out the event. That’s at max 3 days per month. There was no event this month, only Tenrai, so I played 1 day this whole month. I don’t expect everyone to be able to bust out a weekly in a few hours like I usually do, but thousands of people leaving Twitch muted in a background tab doesn’t make the game alive and well.

Also why did HCS decide to do this competition during Super Bowl Sunday? Dumb play. Do an HCS with no drops and then count the views.

Pretty sad the only good way to get nice free stuff in Infinite is a source outside of the game itself, and limited time events. People have lives, school, and jobs. I couldn’t watch HCS if I even wanted to. Background tab is the only option. FOMO moment.

Yea agree with this. 343 using drops so that they can say

“Wow guys we got so many views halo is great again”

And we all know people tunned in put it on mute for an hour or two just to get some cosmetics becuse the actual game is terrible for giving players different choices of cosmetics.

Never liked e-sports and even with drops still wont watch it. Each to there own. Glad that the people who do like it are having fun watching it again

Irrelevant WHY anyone is watching, but it’s a measure of people who are playing… and it is not a small amount. As of writing, 83,000 is a good chunk of players!

I was thinking the same thing. I feel like so many people are HOPING it fails that they have a doom cloud mentality like the game is already a barren wasteland where you can’t find matches or something. I rarely ever play the same people in any playlist, the population is consistently better than MCC in that regards, because I’ll hop on right now and play 5 games in a row against at least some of the same people each match.

And people complaining about free drops are on another level considering they were the people raging all this time about the store and lack of skins etc.

Yea im glad that we have a good player base again and its not dwindling down rapidly.

Just wish 343 would put the focus they have for e-sports, twitch drops, players stats, and advertising towards the actual game. Not saying its bad but it does feel very bare bones.

Hopefully season 2 will be better and if not no amount twitch drops will stop it from dwindling. Hope im wrong and that season 2 would genuinely want me to spend €10 on the pass because it would be worth it but if not its gonna be a hard pass. If its not worth it and people wont opt into the second BP then a lot of players will fall off away from halo and then a new game could take away the player base but the fans will stay.

87,000!
You are absolutely 100% right.

Those steam chart videos were always clickbait and naysaying for views anyway tbh!

Thing about Esports, it does really keep the game alive. Without a strong Esports scene, Halo struggles hard to stay directly relevant and that’s very demonstrable.

Here’s hoping. They’re committing very hard to Infinite, though, and honestly I’m proud of 343i’s dedication to it.

Using Twitch viewing stats to claim the game is alive and well is about as irrelevant as those using Steam stats to claim the game is dead. If anything this just shows that Halo has a massive potential to be hugely successful yet 343i seem to be doing their best to screw it up…it’s hugely disappointing that this game is in the state it’s in when it should literally be wiping the floor with every single game in the FPS genre.

Listen, I GET what you’re saying, but saying that number is irrelevant is just goofy.

The stream is literally E-sports. I like Halo, but I don’t give a damn about E-sports. I’m sure many can relate to that. Microsoft doesn’t need to put EXcLuSiVe items as stream drops to gauge the interest of it’s player base as they have access to all the player data across from all platforms already.
