8v8 Mantis Gameplay

Will there be unnecessary limits for the amount of vehicles you can place in forge mode?

For example. In Halo Reach by default you were only able to place 4 scorpions, 8 Banshees, 4 wraiths etc.

There were mods created by jtaggers that allowed placement of much more vehicles. I believe 343i know these unnecessary restrictions shouldn’t be ther in the first place.

Basically what im getting at is that we need to be able to place 16 MANTIS in forge mode. So 343i, I hope you made it happen. If not, a patch to allow it would be awesome.

A 8v8 Mech Warz Maps and Game-type would be too epic not to have.

You wouldn’t need much money for anything else so it wouldn’t, like, overload the map or whatever they’re afraid of to put the limit in the first place…

8v8 Mantis on Mantis customs sounds like fun to me. I’d increase the walking speed and surely have a blast. I hope there aren’t any restrictions on the amount of Mantises? Mantisi? Manteese? you can put on a map. Well at least be able to place like 8. 16 would be great but I’d be happy with either. I’m hoping you are correct about 343i in regards to supporting the mods from Reach and implementing them into H4 Forge.

The Forge maps we’re going to get are smaller than Forge World. However, this helps performance as the game doesn’t have to render the unused areas of the map.

Maybe an 8v8 Mantis Slayer is possible. :stuck_out_tongue:

Bit too many blank lines in the OP, but anyway yes I agree, even FW works fine in Darth Human’s creation where there are only 4 on the map, but they respawn instantly for far more. There’s another one that has something like 16 Falcons on the map along with large battleships and it plays fine and doesn’t melt any Xbox’s.

I have a feeling some limits will be removed for Halo 4 since the maps are smaller. Evidence of this can be seen on Ridgeline, where you can place 20 Ghosts in Forge compared to only 8 on FW.

Yes that’s exactly what I was getting at! Your right it applies for all the objects not just the vehicles. If this can happen for the forge it will be improved drastically. Some maps and concepts are just not possible with the current" certain amount of these, or these " system.

I will find a way to place 16 MANTIS whether or not its default. It just needs to happen. And of course mods by a “glitch” ;). As these were always okay with bunige, ghost merging halo 3 is the reason phase was in reach.

That would be amazing, but unfortunately, i think 343 made the mantis a Valhalla exclusive vehical. Just like the elephants on sand box from halo 3, i think the 2 mantises are all we are going to get, and we wont be able to place any more. If i am wrong, then your 8vs8 mantis battle could become a reality. Also, i think vehical restrictions should be based on money, not what they are in reach.

Seems to me the MANTIS would work on a lot of maps. I never considered 343i not letting them place it at all on the three forge worlds. In all honesty, I will rage if they dont. It just wouldn’t make sense considering you could make and remake large scale maps on the three forge worlds.

On the topic of the MAMMOTH, if its in MM, it should be a place-able object on the forge worlds.

Plus how often did you honestly use more than 30% of forge world at a time? The forge maps will still be plenty big enough to play on large scales, without all the large amounts of wasted space. all at once.

I think it would be cool. Honestly, I’d love to see more mech vehicles in Halo 5-6. When the Mantis was confirmed in MP, I was like “about time…”.

Halo’s universe is perfect for mechs.

I wouldn’t say its perfect. The first 3 generations of mjolnir were attempts at exoskeletal mechs, but none could be deployed on the field effectively for combat because they required large amounts of power(mk.1 & mk.2 needed to be plugged into fusion generators, mk.3 has a portable generator built in), were extremely slow, and couldn’t be deployed on the field easily enough to be useful in combat. after 3 failures, ONI gave up and decided to build an exoskeletal suit instead(mk.4 and up).

However, theres nothing saying that they didn’t come up with a good solution to this and start developing several combat mechs.

I get the feeling that it’s a combination of several memory limitations: how much content can fit in RAM at a given time, how much content can be loaded within a reasonable amount of time, and how much processing can be done on certain pieces of content.

So Ridgeline may allow more Ghosts than Forge World because there is far less geometry on the map, meaning that less work needs to be done every frame.

I agree that 343i should place more vehicles in forge. That video was pretty epic from above! Is there any way I could join one of these custom games?

In reach you could have 50-60 warthogs without using any mods or glitches, and it didnt lag it at all, although only about 10 were in motion.
