now that bleedthru has been removed, 75% melee is the obvious change that needs to happen.
343, you already acknowledged that there is great strife caused by the melee system in halo reach. thats why you title updated the game to work with the community. now that the title update isnt in effect, in this area, reverting to the same BS that people were against in the first place is silly.
give us 75% melee as a compromise.
that, or just give us back bleedthru because it was infinitely better in the first place. after all, people who arent smart enough to refrain from holding forwards on their joysticks really shouldnt dictate mechanics, but they clearly have for the removal of bleedthru.
we need a melee system that doesnt encourage people to play like idiots. how are people supposed to learn that charging in like a noob isnt a good strategy, if it nets them kills and assists time and time again simply because their opponents werent prepared enough, werent good enough, missed one of their spammed shots, or were too close so their shooting wasnt even viable against their sprinting opponents?
perform better should mean you get the kill, and the person who performed like an idiot is dead. not the other way around. the other way around is call of duties way of doing things: rewarding people for being bad by giving them crutches. thats not the halo way. never has been, so why start now?
a 3 melee kill isnt exactly ideal but at least joe schmo cant use his level 9001 CHARGE WITH FISTS strategy anymore and expect success, boiling down halo ‘depth’ to guess-based encounters that reward people for playing like noobs.
Bleed thought is inconstant and breaks the point of having sheild except as a rechanging portion of heath, Tell me how does spraying + melee better than double melees, both take the same amount of time

75% melee is certainly the best way to go without bleedthrough since it punishes all instances of double pummel without the problems that bleedthrough introduced to the game(inconsistency).
I have a 15 page paper explaining how beneficial 75% melee without bleedthrough is to the game but don’t know where to post it since I know it will get bumped down quickly if I post it here.
Just curious to know how many of you would even be interested in reading it?

You referring to the first clip? He got outplayed not once, but twice by the guy holding the Needle Rifle. Then he still gets a kill.

I’d read it. Fatal Factor will probably read it as well.

Yes I was reffering to the first clip and tisk tisk tisk, he got killed by the AL guy and a teammate had to finish him off, thats not out playing someone =/
I never have a problem with run up double melee, because if someone makes the mistake of running up on me, more often then not, they get EMPed with a side of smack to their face.

Don’t you even realize how self-contradictory that paragraph is?

Not at 15 pages. I cant imagine the subject to be that deep, and so expect a great deal of verbosity.

I would love to read it.
If you aren’t going to post it and/or create your own thread, please feel free to PM me.
If you can’t skim it down, I would create a thread linking to the 15 pages, instead of taking up however many replies.

I’d like it if you stopped playing the victim.
Currently with my settings, the last topic on the Matchmaking page had a reply 17 hrs ago, page 2 is a lot of “day ago”'s. Being bumped down quickly seems a very unlikely scenario here. Perhaps the Halo4 section is not so smart, but your fears are not warranted here.
How about you not “fish” for what others want and just post what you feel.
You’re never going to get the “stronger minded” players to trust you unless you do.
A tip: Remember, a person is smart, people are stupid. Marketing your ideas with words meant to tantalise the masses rather than the person will only appeal to the lowest common denominator, and those types are rarely rational or logical about what they want.
I would take the 75% melee in a test run as a concession. That means it take 2 seconds from full health for a player to melee another to death. Any weapon will do the job with perfect or near-perfect shooting before then.
Anyone else find it ironic that Bungie was going to have melee-combos in H2 via B-B-B, but decided to cut them, but they still survived in H2 and H3 via BXB?..
Makes ya think they could have reimplemented the originally planned H2-melee system in the first place.
