The pop counters for H3 and Reach have been broken for a while now. It felt so nostalgic seeing the obviously wrong numbers, but whatever. Please fix 'em, they’re kind of frustrating.

I wish that many still played halo 3. They should be still playing Halo 3. It’s better than Reach and 4 by miles.

I played H3 last night and the counter said 330 people were online.
Three hundred and thirty.
I couldn’t play anything but Social and Ranked slayer.
The playlist counters are not true. I played H3 BTB all weekend and it kept saying 0 People were online. When that clearly was not the case.

I feel saddened because of so few people playing H3 nowadays. I mean, I bought ODST a few days ago and when I go to play H3 MP, I have issues with the cheevos because people keep quitting. I cannot get an overkill when only 3 people are still playing…
P.S. I want to play with people so they can help me get the achievements (Not boosting, forget about it). I just need a few people for team based achievements like the perfection or overkill things. Also, to party up to see if I can play Infection to get the 2 achievements too. If you want to play with me, send me a message please. I am desperate.

I’ve been wondering this for a while, how ‘off’ is Halo 3’s population counter? does it not update daily like it’s supposed to or does it randomly spit out numbers (like in this case)?

Same here I went on one morning it said 0 players online so I went on and it found players and found them pretty quick.which they would sort it out…

It spits out random numbers, I played all day during Populate Halo 3 Day whenever that was, the population numbers didn’t change all day.

It has? How far off is it? Does that mean that if it shows up on Major Nelson’s top 20 population, it won’t be correct, or is that measured separately?
EDIT: Just read your more recent post. I heard that it only updates every 24 hours so maybe that is why it didn’t change. Could still be broken though.
I saw a number that was about 7 million in social slayer.

There was an update 2 weeks ago. The counters were fixed, there really was 700,000 players.

I HIGHLY DOUBT THAT. Most players I have ever seen online were like 200-500 thousand players. Also the other day it read 7 million, I’m sure 7 million people weren’t playing Halo 3.
The counters have not been right since Halo Reach was released. No matter what people say, it currently says there are 0 people Doubles yet I am finding games with ease (Not good con mind you)
Back in 2008/2009 the population counter used to reach well over 1.5 million. I know it was a 24hr counter. Buy still impressive. I had seen it over 2 million. Those were the days

Major Nelson see’s different numbers compared to what we do, I’d so with the assumption it is meant to update every 24 hours, but as you can see, 700k players in 24 hours for a game that low in the Xbox LIVE activity chart?

It has also happened in halo Reach.
It’s usually around a couple thousand, so idk. Wish the counters were fixed, like come on 343.
