It really is when everything further than right in front of your face runs at 30fps and below. Having things run at a lower framerate than the game’s universal framerate makes things look… Off… You all surely noticed by now… So why not patch the game to run at 30fps like all the past Halo games? It would look a lot better and if possible, doing that could maybe make split screen possible again too.
Im just saying, that all the sacrifies to keep the game at a constant 60fps are pointless when most things in the game don’t animate at 60fps unless they are right whlithin melee reach.
Would a patch of this nature be possible? I heard somewhere that a CoD game had an fps patch on Xbox One… So I figured… Why not Halo 5?
No thanks
60fps gameplay in shooters >>>>>>>>>> 30fps gameplay in shooters.
go back to old ps3/360 shooters that run at 30 and they’re horrible to play now.
+Halo 5 looks amazing.
60 fps is far superior to 30 fps and I certainly prefer 60. However, for all the sacrifices made for 60 fps (bad graphics compared to other AAA titles, 30 fps animations, no split screen), I honestly don’t think 60 fps is worth it.
See this:
Unfortunately, a patch for halo 5 reducing the frame rate to 30 fps would be nearly impossible because the games engine is built around and locked to 60 fps.
I think the best solution would be to have 60 fps and nice graphics, but lower the resolution to 720p or 900p or something. Star wars battlefront runs at 720p 60fps on the xbox one, and has great graphics, so maybe we could have 900p with less detailed but still nice graphics. I think this would be easily achievable because halo 5 has dynamic resolution changes anyway.
As for split screen, I’m really not sure. It couldn’t run at 30 fps like star wars battlefront, because halo 5’s engine is built around 60 fps, so 343i would have to really reduce the graphics quality or resolution.

I feel like you haven’t noticed that most things in the game animate at way below 60fps when they aren’t directly in front of your face. I would love for a fully 60fps Halo one day but Halo 5 isn’t it. The 60fps is pointless since it’s hardly ever seen beyond the first few feet around you. Locking it at 30fps all around would alow for the same constant framerate among the entire screen and maybe even allow for split-screen to return.

I feel like you’re greatly over exaggerating the fps drop distance in order to try to push a secondary splitscreen agenda.

The animations are at 30 FPS, yes, but the game itself, as well as the framerate in which it renders at, is 60 FPS. the two are entirely separate, and have no bearing on eachother. While I think that part of the game was handled a bit sloppily, it doesn’t ruin the experience.
So, to summarize. the game itself outputs at 60 FPS, and it doesn’t change on the “entire screen”, as you put it, but the animation reverts to 30 FPS with the character models at a certain distance. A good example of another game doing this would be Smash 4 (Wii U/3DS) where the main fighters always output their animations at 60FPS, but the Assist Trophies are at 30 to conserve fidelity.

I just like how the very beginning of that video explains the benefits of framerate and yet so many people try to down play it. Just because the Xbox one was not made powerful enough to be able to run Halo 5 at 60 fps and be able to have split screen and other features does not make 60fps any less of an improvement and better overall experience over 30 fps. And I agree that way to much was lost just for the benefit of being able to play at 60fps.
This is NOT directed at anyone in particular by the way.

“gameplay” i dont care how things look, gameplay is far more important.
also if it went down to 30, youd soon be hating it wanting 60 back have you played a 30fps shooter after playing one at higher frames…

.
. I 150% agree with that!
.
.
. Simply way too much was sacrificed for a 60FPS bragging right. And by TOO MUCH, i mean I have given up on Halo as being fun anymore when 343’s primary focus appears to be wrapped around half completed products, microtransactions, and deceitful practices (calling updates/DLC extra “free” content when ANYONE with an IQ above 10 can figure out that ANYTHING which should have been included on launch day should not be called “free” since everyone already paid for it).

.
. OMG! I for one already knew how fake and plastic-y Halo5 graphics are, but that pic dating back to the Xbox360’s first game is simply amazing.
.
.
. Anyone one who can see beyond their nose canNOT argue that. It is FACT. Ef-Ay-See-Tee, FACT.
.
.
. I CHALLENGE anyone to look at that pick then come back here and state how great Halo5 looks. AS an even bigger insult, you should snap a pick of a tank on REACH since so many 343fanboys hate on it so much. . .

No he is right. I’ve had friendly spartans running 10 feet away from me that were clearly moving at 30 fps. Happens all the time in Warzone and some times also in Arena.

Actually, with me being the obsessed smash fan that I am… I gotta say this… The entirety of Smash 4 Wii U is 60fps. On 3DS however, assists and pokemon render at 30fps… And it looks just as weird as far out characters do in Halo 5 only thing is… I don’t play with items in Smash 3DS so I never see them anymore. Im always in For Glory.

That tank isn’t rendered at all. I’m calling BS right now. I don’t know what the hell is going on in that picture, but THIS IS WHAT THE TANK LOOKS LIKE.
Edit: is that campaign? Is that the dynamic resolution causing that?
I disagree, I think the 60fps was a great addition to H5 and I feel the game has the best gameplay out of all the Halo series. To each his own though, but I’m a happy camper.
