So I was thinking, would it be possible for Halo 4 to go to 60 FPS with the Xbox 720 since the hardware is upgraded, like PC’s, you upgrade the hardware, games will run better and at higher frames per second. I can’t imagine that it would be impossible for 343 Industries to release a patch to allow this, discuss?
It would be great, but I hope that doesn’t happen. 60fps looks amazing, but the fact Halo doesn’t run at it gives it a more fictional feel to me. 60fps is really for gritty realism and MMOs IMO.
I’m not that sure. While it’d be pretty awesome, I really think Halo 4 moves at a fine frame rate. They need to amp everything up a few steps. The Halo 4 graphics are great, but with 720 Halo 5’s need to surpass, same goes for the frame rate.
All games should run @ 60. It allows you to take in the art of the game while on the move. If you want to enjoy Halo games graphically you have to stop and look around slowly.
I really can’t see why this wouldn’t be possible, a simple patch could allow this, they should add this into the upcoming Title Update, or any other future Title Updates. I’m sure 343 Industries have development Xbox 720 kits so they know the specifications of the Xbox 720.
When the 720 comes out they should release a 720 version of halo 4 to release with it. It should have 60 fps, all the DLC and one new map pack.
Have all Halo games been 30 fps?
If so, I’m wondering if this has been a deliberate choice, or simply a limitation of the game engine / hardware platform
OT, if the 30 fps IS due to technical limitation, I’d easily sacrifice some of the visual and technical flair, to have the game run a buttery smooth 60 fps. It could also break the ‘feel’ of Halo, too, so it’s a tough call.
EDIT: Just realized I was talking about the technical limitation of the current Xbox. I’m 99% sure the new Xbox won’t struggle with Halo 4. That is assuming it even plays Xbox 360 games.
I want it.
It’ll run smoother, that I know. Meaning you’ll play the part of a super-soldier better.

If it works anything like PC, simply popping the disc in the 720 would afford 60+ FPS.
That said, I am tired of 30fps Halo. It is tiring and aesthetically unappealing. Halo CE PC and Halo 2 Vista are the best Halo experiences to date simply because you can enjoy them at a smooth, non-eye straining frame rate.
I’d even be happy with Halo just becoming a regular PC release.
The Xbox 720 will almost definitely not be backwards-compatible due to the information released.

You mean a bunch of unfounded rumor that have no basis?
You must forget that rumors states Microsoft was cancelling Xbox LIve because it was unsuccessful, that the 360 would block used games, that the 360 would not play original Xbox games, and the smattering of other things.
If anything, the rumored architectural leaks for the 720 points to it permitting Xbox 360 games.

Yes, mostly to make the game look pretty, physics, AI, etc… vs some games like COD where 60fps is their goal so they make sacrifices to the AI and physics so the game runs at a constant 60fps. Givin that, I bet you 343 will push the next xbox to it’s limits which will unfortunately result in achieving 30fps.

I’d stay away from the rumors since most of them seem like total bull.
There will most likely be an Xbox at launch that offers backwards compatability, something like an Elite, you never know, don’t listen to the rumours, wait for legit information.
Even if they cant Patch the game in a Title Update, or in DLC. And even if they dont make a 720 Version of the game, at 60 FPS, If I am not mistaken, the game would still look, feel, and play a lot smoother, cleaner, crisper and sharper than it does on the 360… Regardless if its updated/re-released or not…
That is of course they allow backwards compatibly, improve Xbox Live, Add a 3D enabled Next-gen Blu-Ray disc tray/player, and improve the consoles up-scaling capabilities as well as its main/overall graphics card…
Original Xbox games don’t magically run at a higher frame rate once you put them in the 360 do they? They get a slight boost in AA and upscaling, but they still retain their 4:3 aspect ratio, frame rate dips and bugs.
Rumors aside, we still have no idea if the neXtBox will be backwards compatible. You can’t say to not pay attention to the rumors, and then claim that the RUMORED specs will allow backwards compatibility. Even if they would technically speaking, we have no idea what the system will actually do.
If the only rumor that is true is that they won’t allow used games, by some sort of DRM or always online functionality, then backwards compatibility is unlikely. Unless they do something like the Wii U does where it changes into “Wii mode” to allow backwards compatibility. Thing is, that would open the door for hackers to get around the rumored DRM stuff.
We won’t know anything until it is officially announced, but I’m fairly sure it won’t suddenly be a 60fps game.
Could a 720 run it? Yes. Is it necessary? No. But the real reason why we won’t see it is because 343 would have to make the game again, optimized for 60fps. The hardware can’t up the framerate of a game.
Or at least I think so.
I don’t think it would be hard for 343 to release an update that optimizes Halo 4 for the new Xbox. It could have things like 60FPS,native 1080p,Anti-Aliasing,DirectX11,Higher-Res Textures, etc.
Meh. They’ve adjusted Halo 4’s physics to 30fps, just like they’ve adjusted it’s artwork (skyboxes, textures etc) to 720p.
However I would love to see 60fps in Halo 5. With little tweaked physics (like more resposive strafing) it would be a multiplayer blast.
Halo’s a Console shooter, of course it’s going to have a low frame-rate. Having a Console game run at 60 shows a lack of detail and effort in things.
PC’s are only limited by what specs you buy. So any FPS issues you’d have on it are your problem (unless the game is coded terribly).
