Note: this is not a connection issue, my connection is excellent.
NEW EDIT NOTE; the issue I’m experiencing could be something to do with connecting with other players from around the world. I will look more into thos and report my experience back here on this article.
Supposedly for one of the best selling Xbox one games you’d think achievements like obtains smooth 60 frames per second gameplay would make Halo 5 a very comfortable game.
Well in about to tell you something completely different: Halo 5 is the worst game when it comes to framerate drops! And 60 FPS does nothing to help.
I’ve been playing Halo 5 all day all week lately and I’m always experiencing really bad moments when the game occasionally freezes, and frame rate drops significantly all the time.
This happens in Warzone, Arena, and Custom games. Why should a game that boasts 60fps constantly drop the franerate?! Does this mean Halo 6 will too or will 343 man up and say “let’s make a game that had no framerate drops at all!!!”
I’m sick of these frame rate drops in Halo 5. I can never use swords either because the framerate never lets you kill with them when zooming in. It sickens me.
EDIT: Also when travelling distances at great speeds, such as a gravity lift, driving a ghost/warthog or banshee, I’m constantly thrown back to my original position. So for example if I move 5 meters, the game will throw back in that same location where I walked from even though I can beg to get away
The game freezing is a result of people entering and quoting matches. I don’t really experience the amount of frame rate drops you do (or maybe I just don’t notice them). However, I experience it too much for it to be considered “constant 60 fps.”
I play a hour of Halo 5 which is 3600 seconds, and the FPS drop averages about 1 second per hour. If it happens it lasts for 2 seconds and occurs once every 2 hours.
I don’t see the problem, Halo 5 plays fine for me.
Happens to me and my fiteteam every 5-10 minutes. Even when flying a banshee or something it can be extremely difficult to survive when the framerate drops and just goes nuts
edit: just spawned in wz, still doing it after 5 seconds.
Doesn’t really happen to me when I play Team Arena but if it’s BTB in a combat-tight situation, the frame drops whenever a explosion comes along. Doesn’t really bother as that only last for a second or 2 so I just get along with it.
The quick freeze your talking about occurs when people leave or join a game in progress. Other then that I haven’t noticed too many frame drops except occasionally in forge maps.

This specific issue sounds like rubberbanding, it’s not an fps issue, the problem is with your connection.

Thats all on you mate, I have never had that problem.

Going back to 30fps will be taking 1 huge step back. I can only see it acceptable in today standards if splitscreen was active.
Just a note, try playing Halo 3 on MCC for a few days and then try play it on the 360. You’ll experienced some issues with your aim thanks to 30 frames per second difference.
One final note, any game running on 60fps flows smoothly compared to 30fps. So if Halo 6 ever goes back to 30fps, there’ll be a huge backlash due to the game running at 30fps since the shooter standards today are 60fps.
Sometimes people confuse the framerate drop for lag, I’m unsure if the game runs off p2p or shared host connection, but both would effect the game; your gameplay. It sure isn’t something to boast about when it isn’t perfected, I agree with you there, but if you understood networking at all you’d realise that it’s a lot harder to guarantee perfect and constant framerates without alternative conflicts like people entering and dropping out of the game, or someone with horrible connection coming in when the game tries to share the load. It’s horrible, but it’s uncontrollable.

It does always happen when players quit or join, but that certainly isn’t the only time. I’ve experienced plenty of screenshot frames without anyone quitting or joining when it happens.
I see recordings of H5 and it’s a smooth 60, but whenever I play, it’s kind of at the 45 fps. Idk what it could be, but I’ve never felt the 60 first hand regardless of the game mode, single player or otherwise.

That last part your edit that’s happening because of lag its not frame drops lol.

Plenty of games that are far more popular than Halo 5 run at 30fps. Destiny and Fallout 4 being the two that sprint to mind.
Also there are games that run at 1080p/60fps in single screen play but drop to 1080p/30fps in split screen. Games including The Handsome Collection, and Gears of War 4.
Removing split screen has already had huge backlash. Doing so for the sake of 60fps was just a joke.
Also: one of the reasons you’ll have problem with your aim going from Xbone to 360 is because the sticks are different lengths and have different sensitivities and dead zones. Going between Halo 3 MCC and Destiny doesn’t feel like that big of a difference. Both games play very smoothly and that’s far more important that playing at a higher frames.

That’s a common misconception. The human eye can perceive well above 30 FPS.

The second issue is lag. Not the game itself. Check your connection.
