holiday doubles and holiday social were only available until today. id hoped we would get an update or something but it seems that they have simply, and quietly , removed these two playlists without any information about when they will be replaced with other playlists. instead we are left with one “social” playlists in BTB and 5 ranked playlists (removing ranks doesnt make a playlist social 343, all those onyx players are still playing btb, they are just scattered around the games now.
6 total playlists in arena? are you joking me? i thought 8 was bad, but apparently 343 feels ok with only offering 6. plus two warzone playlists (which i am not counting here really) is anyone else confused why they took away these playlists so fast? why didn’t they just rename them and keep them if people were playing them?
or is everyone happy holiday doubles and holiday social are gone? seemed to me most people didn’t know they were leaving as of 1/4/16, so I’m wondering what people think here.
The holiday playlists were there to substitute in for the “Weekend social” over the holidays. We will likely get another new playlist this weekend (it will be there from like Friday to Sunday)
It’s probably going to remain like this for some time. Probably until the next major update. We have yet to see Zombies or Grifball. They didn’t learn from MCC which is sad to see. They need to take a look at how Bungie ran things and take some notes cause War Zone is only fun for so long. -Yoink- playlists makes the game hard to enjoy without any variety.
343 just did MCC as we all know, and even the MCC had around 8-10 playlists at all times (maybe more, i can’t remember) they had one temporary playlist that would change, but it was never removed. my point is i was expecting it to be replaced and not just removed completely. 6 playlists is not enough. i can’t believe you all think that this is acceptable?
im not surprised they were temporary, and I’m not surprised that 343 has done this. i was surprised some people didn’t know they were being removed at all, and i was disappointed they were not immediately replaced. id also like to know what the point of a ranked playlist for only a couple weeks is? i just barely ranked in doubles and they removed it. pretty ridiculous.
weekend socials are garbage. i don’t want a playlist only for a few days. it’d be nice if they let a temporary playlist stick around for at least a month (as they did on the MCC). who thought it was a good idea to take away playlists so fast? especially when we are left with only 6 total playlists. if you’re only playing one playlists its because you’re only good at that one or most likely because there isn’t enough variety to get you to play any other playlists.
I was sad to see doubles go, wish they would bring it back as a permanent ranked playlist. They need Social Objective and Social Slayer (with different slayer variants! and not this Holiday Social rotation which was snipers every darn game)
They should change it to Weekly or Monthly playllists instead of Weekend. But I don’t know why you complain so much, because less people play during the week and having more playlists will hurt search times. And also if you want variety, the Weekend playlist will give that to you since you will play the permanent ones then switch to Weekend ones where playtime is more balanced between the playlists; the variety is just more forced is all.

Jumped back on H5 yesterday after a break playing other games and being IRL social at Christmas to find a social playlist which was quite a laugh, only to boot up today and find it ripped out right from under my feet.
Yes I know the bulletin balls gets announced but it still doesn’t change the fact that it’s gone and we have such small choice for arena playlists! Where’s the social, mlg, snipes, objective, doubles playlists!
I can only imagine they’re keeping the playlists so limited due to small population sizes… But that’s chicken and egg because me and my friends don’t even want to play most of these playlists or get bored very quickly playing the current setup (thank god for new maps!). Going in lone wolf to any playlist except FFA is an uphill struggle to say the least.
I find the current playlists give me enough in variety to play different approaches to the Halo sandbox. I don’t see any problem with them personally. Then again, I don’t have hours upon hours to play, and 3-5 games a night is usually my maximum. I could see how if you’re a young person spending multiple hours online in Halo, six playlists might get old after a couple of days.
