Seriously, what is the thought process behind this?

Sounds like a useless weapon, having to reload after getting a kill (if you manage to land your shots) just sounds crazy. With it the way it is I can imagine that some players won’t manage to make a kill with a single magazine and have to reload mid-battle.

Anyway, if it’s a 6-shot kill my guess is it will have a 12 shot clip.

lol what happened to everyone wanting “weapon balance”? Obviously I’m going to focus more on my BR. That doesn’t justify making the H4 pistol worse than the Reach one.
Good bye useful pistol… Bloom (I would have asked what kind of Bloom but it seems to be the same as in Reach
) and a small clip will kill it.
My first use for it: dropping it for the BR asap
Next weapon I’m highly anticipating: AR. This is the one weapon that everyone drops in campaign as soon as they come across it. H1 was the only time that it was worth using. H4 better be changing it (obvious thing would be giving it a damage boost) or I’ll have to drop it as well.

You don’t know how much bloom will affect the shots, what the delay for Rate of Fire is, or how many shots are in the clip.
In “Weapon Balance” sidearms are USUALLY meant to be “Oh -Yoink-, I’m out of bullets, Y then keep shooting!”
Play Halo 2, 3, or Reach and try to main the Pistol. The BR/DMR will beat you almost every time.
And yet again, a useless weapon added to the sandbox. At the very least, sidearms in Halo 4 should have the “quick draw” feature that pistols do in COD so there is some point in having them.
It is really disappointing to see this, and a break with series tradition. At least make it look different from the CE Pistol if you are going to gimp it like this (as was done in Halo 2).
Got to admit, 6 shot is ridiculous. It sounds as if thee pistol is going to be seriously lacking power and the ability to finish. It sounds useless… then again, this is just an early build of Halo 4…

No, that’s how pistols work in a generic modern based shooter. That is not how the Pistol, or any weapon in the Halo sandbox for that matter, is supposed to work. Each non-power weapon is supposed to fill in a specific niche, with the main precision weapon being able to beat them in that niche depending on the players skill level with it.

exactly, no one ever said anything about it’s fire rate, and that will be the make-or break factor on whether it’s good or not.

Lately, you’ve been complaining nonstop about others complaining. It gets a little irritating.
Yes the one in Reach is nice, but what’s the difference? Reach pistol is 5 shot. I’m not complaining, but voicing my opinion about 6 being too much. Spartan Ops is irrelevant to this thread, so don’t know why you brought it up. Stop assuming that others don’t know how to use the pistol in Reach just because they have different views on this new pistol.

The Reach pistol sucks in campaign and firefight. The lack of ammo means I have to throw it away as soon as I come across a DMR.
The lack of shield bleedthrough means I’m wasting shots on Elites.
The Bloom makes it difficult to use against Jackals after exposing their head. It’s a 1 time chance. If I miss, it’s too late.
And of course, the small clip size means a lot of reloading.
It’s only use is for headshotting Grunts, Skirmishers, Jackals that conveniently expose their head while moving to the left or right, and unshielded Elites. It’s like the ODST pistol in some ways, except the ODST pistol was superior since it was accurate (impeded by recoil instead of bloom), had a big clip size, better max ammo, and had better range.
There have only been 3 pistols that I have found reliable in campaign, fun, and consistent with canon: CE, H2, ODST.
The M6G is absurd and why anyone would still be using it after 5 years I’ll never know. Likewise, the MA5C.
I only have to think of Sierra 117’s mission start shudders to know that Bungie’s poor execution of uniting campaign with mp resulted in redundant weapons existing in campaign. Why would the AR be made useful for AI but useless for the player? Why would the pistol downgrade from a pistol that had high rof to a pistol that had pathetic rof?
343 is doing the same thing, except they might do a better job.

The pistol might’ve been beaten by the DMR in most situations but the Pistol pwns it at close range and it’s way better than the assualt rifle.
