6 & 6 from the Halo 5: Guardians MP Beta

So I’m not going to to talk on and on, and say the whole thing is messed up blah blah blah, without actually providing reasons or solutions.
So instead I’m going to say 6 positive things and 6 negative things.

The things that work:

  • The movement works quite well and flows beautifully- The fast paced feel- The graphics look amazing- The level design is clearly thought through- The call-outs by other Spartans are a great idea, and work quite well. Could be more
specific, maybe louder?- I like the convenience of the announcer announcing when the ‘power weapons’ or snipers are up, but it does get a little repetitive at times (“power weapons are up in 10”…“Snipers up in 10 seconds”…)Things that aren’t great at all:

  • Even though the movement is good, it feels a tad heavy and a little clunky though- The pistol is underpowered. By this I mean that it takes to many head shots to kill someone
and way, way to many body shots as well. This could be fixed my taking the count of bullets to kill
someone down by 1 or 2 from the current amount. Or maybe extending the range/accuracy a bit.

  • When you’re being shot and taking damage, you flinch too much and cannot keep the crosshair on your opponent.- The spartan charge/lunge whatever you want to call it, after your have performed it, it takes just that little bit too long
to regain movement/control of your spartan. Same thing after you ground pound. Could be fixed by removing that, or just adding more damage to make it worth the risk, rather than it being just a more fancy melee- The grenades are very overpowered and take way too much damage off the player.

  • The BR and DMR work nicely but now seam to be middle class. By this I mean that they are much better than a pistol,
but are only just under being power weapons. In my opinion, they are supposed to be level with the pistol, but are not sadly.

All of these things are my impressions from the first couple of days,
I will update this post if things should change in future weeks

Update from end of Week 1:
The new game type works very well, the only issues I have are that your Spartans shields still feel like paper, and that matchmaking system still needs work.
I was joined into a lobby where as my team consisted of 4 people who had not yet completed their 10 games to qualify, vs the opposing team of 2 gold, 1 silver,
and 1 unqualified player.

Having a real team is better though…Calling out real strats is better…!

I like the heavy & clunky feel of the movement. It makes sense, too; Chief is roughly 900lbs in his armor.

indeed, but as I said, its only a small bit too much.
