[6-21] Unofficial WZ Strategy Thread

Shifting through a sea of negative threads there’s only a handful of super constructive threads floating around at a given time. So let’s put together something positive / constructive, what do ya say?

Once a day (for the next five days) I’ll be posting my full runthrough on a Warzone map based on Boss timings. So for this first one I’ll start with my favorite map.

Battle of Noctus

- 0:00 - 2:00 : I begin the match with popping off a few crawlers (edit; GRUNTS) / making a couple assists to start chipping away at earning my Br REQ. I make sure I’m at the entrance well before it opens. Once the base is cleared, I rush out to the Elite Prime, making sure I’ve put substantial shots on it ensuring my Boss Assist or kill. From there I carefully approach the Monument, some people opt for one of the Garages, but I believe Monument is more crucial of a cap. Getting First Strike or a kill or two is the cherry on top.

  • 2:00 - 4:00 : On a good game, we’ve capped Monument by 2:00 (and I have my BR), but if that’s still a battle I stray off to takedown a Hydra Soldier or both if Im lucky. Getting my hands on one of those Launchers usually means I’m getting 1-3 kills, so H2BR / SMG combo, you’re up! I’ll possibly help with a garage cap too if it’s still needed at this point.

- 4:00 - 6:00 : I tend to skip the next round of bosses, the Ghost Jockeys. Unless I’m in a Ghost Ultra at this point or there are numerous teammates taking one down at the same time. It’s usually not worth my time and ammo IMO.

- 6:00 - 8:00 : Okay, Pilot Dalamen time. The first opportunity to shift the game’s tides. Depending on whether we’re winning or losing is the deciding factor in my next move. If we’re winning, I don’t make a huge effort to take it down. If we’re losing I’ll probably pull out a Whiplash or Typhon to do whatever I can to help out. If I’m not level 6 and have a DMR out by this point, I haven’t adhered to my usual run of this map.

- 8:00 - 10:00 : Duelist Hunters are another great opportunity to even the score, especially if your team didn’t get Dalamen. I put a lot of effort here regardless of the score just so I can be a part of as many of those 4 takedowns as I can. If I’m not already 1st in my team for score, this is what usually slingshots me to 1st. Plus it’s fun to position myself on the outer walkways perpendicular to the Monument and pick off enemies as they make their attempts at the Hunters as well.

- 10:00 - 12:00 : This where we get our first Warden fight. I repeat the same process as I did for the the Duelist Hunters, hanging off to the side picking off enemies and making my damage contributions to Eternal once he’s 2/3 damaged. If I’m feeling it, I’ll use one of my better rocket launchers to try and steal away the kill commendation for myself (8 away!!)

- 12:00 - 16:00 : I bundle the next two boss sets together because they generally run into each other timewise. It seems not a lot of effort is usually put into taking down the Platoon Captain. I honestly think it’s a pain in the -Yoink- so I skip over it, mainly due to those pinpoint accurate Wraith shots. Sometimes I’ll time a tank for this boss, but I’m usually wanting to save my vehicle REQs since I don’t have a large stockpile. I do go after the Recon Pilots though, man, they go fast. Sometime’s I go for the opposing team’s side first since it’s such an easy one to steal away.

  • 16:00+ : The last Warden fight comes at 18:00. Obviously this is the big finale. I put more so effort on this Warden then back at minute 12:00. I don’t like dragged out WZ matches (20+ minutes) so I try and take him down as fast as possible, win or loss. Once again, another great opportunity to get some extra kills under your belt.

Please add your tips and tricks or anything you feel that I missed that’s important! I’ll be back tomorrow with another!

0:00-20:00+: Don’t lose all three bases.

Yes, I failed to mention that I stop what I’m doing and usually help defend a base if the other team starts capping it.

Also, by level 8 (~14:00) I’m equipped with a bayonet DMR & H2BR.

This map is one of my favorites for Banshee slayin’ as well.

You should have the majority of your team trying to take Monument and send a minimal crew to take the bases in the beginning of the game. Once it’s captured, then assess which bases need help and go assist them, but keep some people in Monument so it doesn’t get captured.

When the Dualist Hunters drop, I find that’s usually a good time to try and retake Monument or even a base since people are scattered around the map.

Too often my entire team will go to a garage once we’ve capped monument, and we lose monument.

And yeah, I’ve captured monument with enemies all around me before because they were all focused on the hunters. Honestly I don’t understand how people can be so tunnel visioned.

I also forgot to mention this is the BEST map to spawn at homebase when you don’t have Monument. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen my teammates spawn themselves repeatedly at the Garage solely because thats the extra base we have capped, just to use the lift and be perfectly killed upon landing. The home bases are in the closest proximity to the center base on any WZ map. So it’s perfect to utilize for side flanking. You won’t see me spawn anywhere else when the bases aren’t in our favor.

You should know your favourite map has only covenant inside your home base at the beginning of a match.

^Sounds about right, ha ha!

Nice post OP; It’s refreshing to see some tips/guides. It’ll change up a little after then next update since they are doing the Warzone Boss Refresh, but this is great for new players who haven’t gotten this rhythm down.

Your strategy is pretty solid. Monument is probably one of the most crucial points of the game. If you lose monument you are at a huge disadvantage during the rest of the match. My overall strategy to Noctus is that if you don’t hold the center, make sure you hold the other two bases, but the center is crucial. Anyways, thanks for the strategy guide!

There are crawlers in the Noctus opening?

Lord, I edited that. haha

I completely forgot about Boss refresh! That’ll be interesting seeing how strategies change.

It’s True Over and Over again. Surge I know it’s tempting but don’t release the godfather Warzone Strats

If you don’t have anything constructive to contribute, don’t comment in my thread please. Thanks.

Back at it again today with another runthrough!

Raid on Apex 7

0:00 - 2:00 : Alright game starts and we’ve been dropped on on the beach- three ways to go: your closest base, through the back of home base to Spire, or furthest to the enemy base. I typically go to the closest base to our initial spawn. If you’re a good shot you can achieve level 3 upon capping the first base. Never go immediately for a Mongoose off the initial spawn, Brutes will target you the second you hop on. Pop off a few enemies first before hopping on the 'Goose. After capping the first base, I head off to the closest Zealot Assassin (countdown starts at 1:45). No need to die a bunch before the Hunters are nice and weakened. Once both Zealots have been taken down, then only do I approach Spire. (with a sword if the AI dropped one)

2:00 - 4:00 - I feel like Spire can take a minute to cap sometimes, easily going past the 3:00+ mark. I have a pretty good stockpile on common Shotguns, so usually I’ll Br (H2BR) / Shotgun combo as long as possible while trying to take Spire. Elite Ultras spawn at minute 4:00. If Spire has been capped by then I’ll make my way over to the Ultra, preferably with a Ghost for the easy splatter kill.

4:00 - 6:00 - Minute 6:00 marks the Ghost Marauder spawn. Like Battle of Noctus, I typically skip this boss round. Though, I feel teammates make a better effort to take them down compared to on BoN. So depending on the ebb & flow of the game I’ll either be pushing towards the enemy base or attempting to cap Spire. Usually I’m level 5 at this point, so for this map especially I like to use Plasma or Splinter 'nade Armor Mod because of the amount of vehicles that usually get used on this map.

6:00 - 8:00 - Tankmaster Rok is on the Beach! Personally my decision is usually split 50/50. I guess it’s one of those moments where I gauge my move based off of how my team’s doing. If I do go for it, I hold back with a SPNKR rocket launcher variant, I’ve managed to save a good amount up. But if you got something lower leveled like a Plasma Caster those work great too! Even pull out the Kinetic Bolts loadout variants if you’re gung-ho on assisting! But this is of course the first big chance to steal the lead, so save your REQ levels for this time range if need be.

8:00 - 10:00 - You may need to pull the lead back at this point. Let’s say the other team has Spire and an Armory + just gained the lead from Rok. In this situation, I’d personally try to steal the opposing Armory / take down their Banshee Raider at minute 10:00. Stealing Boss kills from the opposing side of the map symmetry is always a good use of time imo. Whatever team has Spire usually uses that as a primary spawn point, so the other Armory tends to have little to no defense at any given time from my experience.

10:00 - 12:00 - Time for the second Legendary takedown. The only vehicle I like to throw at Hestro is some form of Banshee. Even then I’m cautious. Hestro can rip apart a Tank in no time if you’re not careful. Besides that Railguns and Hydra Launchers are my go-to’s. Having your weapon of choice and making sure you’re in a good position by 11:45 is advised! Fly above Hestro if you take a Banshee out!

12:00 - 14:00 - The Soldier Guards spawn at minute 14:00 and they go fast! Either get into an assassination position or stay back, close range combat isn’t the best way to go about this guy since it shoot off turret shots pretty damn quick. Again, if I can, I go for the enemies side first.

14:00 - 16:00 - Next up is the Knight Champion. This can be as easy as a Wraith splatter. But if you don’t want to pull one out, aim for the orange bits near the shoulders for max bullet damage. If enemies have Spire they have the obvious advantage, but that could be a good time to blitz the base or pick them off from afar. Usually I’m level 8/9 at that point and have some form of bayonet weapon in my loadout, so I’ll either attempt to go in and clear out Spire at this point or fall back to the land bridge area on the perimeter facing Spire with some form of power weapon to pick off enemies focused on the Knight.

16:00+ : The final battle, Warden Eternal. Once again my strategy depends on if we’re winning or losing. In a losing, yet could comeback situation, I focus all my attention on Warden. If we’re winning, I focus on suppressing the enemy as they go after Warden. I like to keep my position on the ground facing Spire if I can or just stay in Spire and put some DMR work in.

Side notes:

  • In my opinion this is the best map for Banshee slaughter fests. The map is huge and perfect for fleeing under heavy fire.
  • Utilize the power weapons from Boss takedowns: Swords, Fuelrod Cannons, Splinter Turrets.
  • Use time in attempting to cap the enemies Armory if they have Spire. Rushing Spire repeatedly is not the answer.

Again, add anything I may have missed or let’s hear your strategies!

It’s a good strategy. The first few parts sounded exactly like me, it was scary, ha ha! However, I always flounder towards the end of the match, not really knowing what to do. Thanks for the tips for my endgame!

Also, for new players, or those who don’t venture into Warzone, a new strategy players have been using is having a few people rush your armory through the caves at the beginning of the match, so watch out for that.

Interesting. I find the Monument to be completely useless. I would much rather have both bases, and since almost everyone goes for monument in bulk, it’s not unrealistic to capture both bases in the beginning of the match.

> Interesting. I find the Monument to be completely useless. I would much rather have both bases, and since almost everyone goes for monument in bulk, it’s not unrealistic to capture both bases in the beginning of the match.

If you hold monument, you have clear line of sight into both armories from the bridge closest to your base. This makes it ideal for picking off players just as they’re venturing outside. Monument is absolutely critical on Noctus; the only way I’ve found to win without monument is to get lucky and take out all three legendaries. Otherwise, it’s a perfect overwatch position that even a decent team can use to control the map.
