53,000 people watching HCS right now

I’m guessing you don’t like watching sport?

Pretty sure like myself - there were 60,000 plus people watching on youtube not twitch.

Although being n the U.K. at about 12 midnight. I stopped watching after the Winners Final and left Twitch on on my phone over night just to get that little medal to hang off my gun.

If you go into the chat it’s mostly people saying just here for the drops. Lol

Doesn’t matter why people are there, they’re there.

I MEAN watching Maybe but I know when they do the drops I just leave my laptop open and on mute. And do other stuff while it just says for 3 hours. So techniqually I’m not even watching.

But I still get those drops whether I watch or not lol

Its been going on like this for a good while now, nothing really new.

There are several ads and promotions for this and have been since the start of this HCS season.

Most people just don’t pay attention…

Yeah, because it’s easley comparable when twiddling your thumbs and actually playing sports :joy::man_facepalming:

The entirety of Friday was watching pool’s A, B, C, and D playing, plus there was an open bracket on the side.

I’m not sure why there are threads like this after every main HCS event…Twitch numbers are not related to how many active players there are and not a sign of whether the game is dead/alive.

When I tuned in on Friday and Saturday to progress some drops, there were approx 6000 on the main HCS channel and approx 1500 watching the co-streamers.

Do these low viewing numbers make the game dead? No, obviously not.

Do the higher viewing numbers for the final make the game population healthy? No, obviously not.

Should Microsoft be actually concerned of the large player population drop from the claimed 20 million at launch? Absolutely.

I think halo on twitch peaked at around 75,000 during the final… plus with all the other secondary channels id add another 5k+?.. plus youtube viewers?.. but could have been 80,000 total…

I’m glad to see infinite getting these numbers of viewers again. The event was great. I just wish C9 would have taken the championship

Oh well, I missed my chances for the drops…

The HCS KC Major Event was an absolutely insane tournament with incredible gameplay and viewership. I can’t wait for the World Championships in Seattle for me to be able to attend.

Having a large pop-up would be great to do during the actual event, I agree.
Kinda like how MCC forces the MOTD pop up sometimes.

Hmm who said anything about playing?

The issue we have here is that I’m not watching thumb twiddles… I’m watch artificial robots kicking the bollocks out of each other!

Also they play for trophies and all sorts. You know the kind they have in sporting competitions.

Not to mention, did you hear, Garmin has brought out an esports watch to measure your heart when you exert yourself in games… so you know, you can keep fit and healthy.

Yeah, as if anything you said made it any better :joy:

Oh well you don’t have to like it! :+1:

It was because of the drops.

HCS barely gets 2k when there’s no drops. When they force you to watch for 3 hours, you get a lot of people streaming it in the background… like I did.

Can’t think of anything more dull and pointless than HCS.

Yet you support it by watching it.

Those numbers matter to sponsors so it doesn’t matter really if you’re background watching or actually watching because no-one can prove otherwise.

Drops 100% increase number of watchers but those numbers are high consistently through the event so people are tuning in and staying or just a lot of people love drops. Either way it’s a win for HCS and the players.

The important Twitch viewing figures are those on a daily basis not what happens on a HCS major event weekend…which I understand are very very low.
