If each average kill is 10 points - then average number of kills required to win are 50 !!!
And if the scoring mechanism is right - eg a snipe kill is 20 points vs beatdown kill is 5 points then it would create a more I dare say skill based game. And suppose there are no snipes in the game then ppl will prefer to shoot rather than do a double beatdown.
why so much hate for a thing that might be good.
just because old system was 1-50 doesnt mean it wont be there in the game.
500 points might just be a new gametype.
Get killed with the Rocket Launcher? Five points each.
Get killed with the Plasma Pistol? FIFTY! COME AT ME BRO I’ve got the PP skills!
> Get killed with the Rocket Launcher? Five points each.

PP kills aren’t that hard to get it would just ruin gameplay as everybody will be using it.

People fail when they try against me. I’ve learned how the PP works and can dodge the bolts. I knock them back to their overpowered DMR!
> Like COD then?
I dont care if its like COD. there will be a 1-50 slayer and a new 500 point slayer. something extra is being added whats the harm.

Because no one kill should be valued above another.
‘Something extra is being added whats the harm’ - what’s the benefit? 343’s motto so far is ‘any change is good’. Why not just leave it as it is?
And also, possible harms - slow down gameplay (eg. if I beatdown all the time, I need to kill 2x amount of players), favour players that are already skilled (eg. a pro who can easily noscope), reduce weapon variety (eg. if certain guns get less points, I will use the gun with the most points).
See again, 343 is adding a change with no benefits and plentiful harm.
Hopefully it works something like this:
Headshot kill - 15 points
Normal Kill - 10 points
Melee - 5 points
This way, people who focus on headshots and accuracy (using the BR and DMR, for example) will be rewarded more than people who just spam down an AR or double melee after knocking off the shields. It’s only a slight bonus in the grand scheme of things, but it is enough to seperate the match between a bunch of power-weapon, AR spamming, melee noobs, and the steady aim, well-placed BR/DMR marksmen.
What is so bad about 1 kill = 1 point?
What does multiplying the points by 10 do? Nothing. Don’t change what isn’t broken.

Yes they are, and they are not the same in Halo 4, one of the guys who were testing Halo 4 described it as shooting big bolts of fire with each shot, with a slower rate of fire, just much more power. So the plasma pistol is an actual pistol now.

So they aren’t hard to get whatsoever?

5 extra points for something as easy as a headshot? And I lose points because I choose not to waste bullets on an opponent without shields and down to low HP?

No, not exactly. It’s easier to kill someone with it, as in it is more powerful than before, but it depends on how the player uses it, overcharging doesn’t track as well as it did before, because of the increased power. It would make the gun too overpowered. So instead, the rate of fire as been lowered and the power has been revamped, so it will probably shoot slowly like the Halo CE UNSC pistol rate of fire, but take shields down like a -Yoink-, an effective close range weapon. But terrible at medium to long range, even when overcharging.

So it’s more powerful than in Reach where it is already very easy to kill somebody with it.

nothing is being changed relating to 1-50, 500 point is something which is being added extra. If you want to play 1-50 then you should be able to play it.

I agree when playing this gametype the gameplay will be different like its different when playing capture the flag. CTF its a different gametype and ppl like it. no one complained when that was “added”.
Wait… Sniper doesn’t require skill.
Did I miss something? First to 500?
