50 Pages of What Halo Wars 2 Could Be

I made this a year ago to help get signatures for the Halo Wars 2 Petition, it worked, and seeing as how Halo Wars 2 was announced a month after I figured I’d post this here for anyone that missed it. Its got a lot of ideas and I think it came out pretty well . What do you guys think and what would you guys like to see with Halo Wars 2?

I think those are some very good ideas.

I should also point out that this draft is only about the game play and multiplayer. I decided to leave out any campaign Ideas because that’s something that the developers should do on their own and any input from the fans on story would only make them second guess their story and probably hurt it.

I like your ideas with the infantry and Spartan 4s. Definitely agree that infantry was underpowered in the first and I think that really messed up the Rock Paper Scissors aspect.

Overall, very well thought out.

Thanks, I think it is too… and I’m not sure why your post got marked as spam.

Went back and looked at this again and I have to say that i’m even more impressed. I think you nailed the flood perfectly. The way that they can infect other units is great and that biomass thing would be the best thing ever.

My only complaint is that all of the units and upgrades may be too complicated to some, maybe find a way to make only some of the units available in each match or something, like people pick which they want? Also, make the population limit higher for all of the factions.

I’ll take a look at how complicated the units are, but I thought I made them and their upgrades simple for the most part. I will increase the population limits though.

I feel like this still limits the game to be Halo Wars 1 improved edition. The amount of unit count for each faction stays around the same instead of expanding. I feel like the new company should take a fresh approach(for the most part, but keep in mind what was liked and disliked in Halo wars).

there are some brilliant ideas there which they should defo incorporate

I did increase the limit populations BTW, and that was something I should have done when I made it, but I disagree with you. A fresh approach would only hurt the game by making it unfamiliar to everyone, not just people new to halo wars. This may get them more sales, but it would cause half of the people playing it to quit after just a few games because it is to foreign to them. Halo Wars 2 needs to be similar to Halo Wars because it would make it where a large amount of the player base knows what their doing and it would allow the game to thrive in the long run. It would also provide a large example for new players to watch and learn from so they don’t feel like they don’t know how to play and that they can’t learn how too.

If you think about it, it’s the same principle as halo’s main series has, where the multiplayer of each game is relatively the same with a few additions. I would say that the Halo Wars 2 that I have made actually is a bigger change from halo wars than any halo has been from their next main title.

Thanks, It would be cool if they incorporated some of my ideas. When I first released this, a few people told me they might have saw it and saw that it got 500 additional signatures to the petition in a week and that was why they made the announcement for HW 2 like a week or so later. I doubt that it was the reason for them to announce it at that time, but I still would love for them too look at this and take a few things from it.

Cool

Too much to read

Well done!

You’ve put a lot of effort into this OP, so I thought it’s only fair to give you a response with a bit of effort put into it. First off, generally overall I like your ideas. There’s just a bit of a list of little tiny things bugging me.

First off, I hope we move away from the fixed base system altogether, even if only cosmetically. But this doesn’t really affect any of your ideas, it was just the assumption that you were suggesting we keep it like this.

Next the mongooses. I think it would be cool if they were in the game, but not as a mini watered down warthog. Mongooses don’t ram. I think that they would be good true scout units which have a lot of potential for upgrades. Ie. Lvl1 +marine lvl2+rocket lvl3 gungoose.

The warthogs… In the upgrades you’ve placed rocket hog as a higher upgrade than guass hog. WHAAAT?! Guasshog is the pinnacle of hogginess. Just a little niggle.

Marines. The last upgrade you added (the only upgrade YOU added) is rockets. Rockets is the first upgrade which you’ve put. Now I’m assuming you mean as primary weapon? So 6 marines all with rockets, perhaps 10 units, 60 marines with rockets? O…K… Also what is their secondary going to be?
Sticking with marines, is the ODST upgrade not leader specific anymore?

What I would rather see for UNSC infantry is marines, with a variety of upgrades, but then the ability to unlock ODST as a separate unit once all marine upgrades are complete, allowing the player to continue using cheaper marines if wanted. More importantly I would like to spawn marines with specific weapons, not too many, just assault rifle, shotgun, sniper, perhaps another?

I think Spartans should have their own Garrison. You should be able to spawn spartan IIs, IIIs and IVs. Spartan IIs say costing 1000 max 4? Spartan IIIs costing 500 max 10 ? Spartan IVs costing 750 max 8. Max 10 Spartans overall? I like your idea of different generation Spartans having their own abilities. That should be added.

I think possibly, the elephant should be for all leaders, with the mammoth taking its place as leader specific. The mammoth having the added ability of spawning hogs and scorpions (limited to those two, let’s not get carried away) and a mini Mac cannon.

I don’t think units like the grizzly and hawk should be for all leaders. I’d like to play a game where each leader plays very differently. In fact, each leader should have more unique units.

I think the falcon and warthog should play very similar roles. Not troop transport, we has pelicans for those. Just light assault vehicles

Personally, I’d like for upgrades NOT to overwrite previous upgrades but continue to offer them at a lower price.

I REALLY LIKE YOUR NEW GAMETYPE IDEAS. They are really innovative. The ranking system is a little on the complicated s side. Just stick to units rather than 10s. Win +1 loss-1 quit-2, no ban. Or based on score.

There’s a lot to digest, although the 50 pages wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be. I might post more later.

I read all of the pages and I toad ally am with you man.

All of those ideas are great.

Thats called dedication right there
