4v4 Game modes devolve to just grenade spamming

I thought this was just me putting on nostalgia glasses but I don’t seem to remember grenades being spammed as much as they are now in previous Halo games. It seems like 7/10 gunfights I get into devolve into just spamming grenades down narrow hallways.

I went back and checked on the MCC if this was the case in other games and found that with the exception of Halo 1 it is not. While it does happen sometimes it is not nearly as frequent so my question is this…why are the grenades so powerful in Halo 5?

I don’t think it is that they are very powerful but seem like that cause they are spamming them. Plus if there is enough latency your grenades will be off so most of the time for me they are pretty weak. It can take me 2 perfect throws and a shot or two to get a kill with them on a bad day.

The ammount of grenades need to be halved or spawn with no grenades and pick up only. If you spawn with 1 grenade I think there shouldn’t be any human grenades for pick ups.

Go back and play some H2 when you could carry up to 8 total grenades, 4 frag and 4 plasmas, if you want to see what real grenade spamming is like

I tested their power. A grenade will drain 3/4 your shields in Halo 5 from a short distance while at roughly the same distance in Halo 3 it won’t touch you at all

Personally, it was worse for me in Halo 3. People spammed Frags, Plasmas, Spikes, and Incendiaries.

First off incendiarys were barely on any maps and second of all halo 3 grenade did not do nearly as much damage as the ones in Halo 5. The maps were also more open so there were more places to move away from them.

Doesn’t mean people didn’t spam them.

But with the advanced abilities and movement it makes sense it’s larger. On release of halo 5 people actually complained about them being too weak cause of the abilities and movement.

Why do you think people take Warzone seriously?

Because the casual game mode managed to be more reasonably competitive than the intended competitive mode.

It’s pretty rare that I feel like I’ve been spammed by nades. I have however gotten sick of getting the drop on someone and having them whip out splinter nades.

grenades and me don’t play well. they can be far away from me and still kill me. or thrown past me hit a wall, box ect and come back at me. love the ones that do that slow roll tell It finds ya. lol

I think they may have a bit of magnetism to them in Halo 5.

Spamming isn’t too much of an issue. Like others have said, H2 is the king of grenade spam. I believe the annoyance of grenades in this game comes from the increased blast radius compared to previous games. The radius is expanded so much to the point where you can receive the tiniest bit of damage at the very edge, and of course, this will cause your shield recharge timer to reset. This can be rather annoying when you’re trying to survive. Also, as a side note, splinter nades need a serious nerf. The number of times I’ve been killed by a panic splinter nade is a little much. Their damage needs to be toned down, as well as their abundance on maps. On the other hands, stickies need to be buffed big time. They have never been more useless. The time to detonation is way too long, and with sprint and thrusters, sticking people is incredibly difficult. They need to detonate quicker and possibly travel faster when thrown to make them a little more useful.

I have to disagree, maybe you have a different experience than me but in mine grenade spamming is a serious issues either ways thanks for responding In a polite manner.

I don’t have issues with grenade damage (minus the splinter grenade) but I see the quantity of them being the issue. Has anyone ever counted how many grenades spawn in the maps and how frequently? You’re not going to run out of them if you stay focused on picking them up and it’s fairly easy to carry 4+ majority of the time.

In short: Damage is of no concern as previous Halos have had better “nuke” nades. Its the quantity (number) of them placed on the map as well as frags being so bouncy.

I had one game today where I swear I got hit by grenades more than bullets.

Annoying thing was my grenade throws where lagging and where never going where I wanted.

Yes, we need those grenades back and they need to up the grenade counter to three each again.

So much truth in your post.

I think maybe we just got used to Halo 4 where we couldn’t pick up grenades unless we chose a loadout specifically geared towards it. I don’t really think the abundance of grenades being thrown is a new thing. Watch HCS and you will see a lot of seemingly random grenade tosses.
