So Halo 5 is getting a 4k update https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/news/halo-summer-celebration
This is good and exciting news for many people. I’m glad this is happening but I’ll be honest here, don’t understand why this wasn’t announced at E3. You know, that gaming convention that has all eyes and ears from not just the gaming world watching and listening!!
I know 343I says they weren’t ready to make the announcement at E3 but why?? Who’s decision was this?? It’s not like you had to show gameplay or anything as they didn’t show any for some other games that are getting a 4K upgrade, so why the delay? I would love for 343I or Microsoft to go into more detail as to why this wasn’t announced at E3. I’m not trying to sound ungrateful nor am I trying to stir up anything… I’m just genuinely perplexed as to this decision. It just doesn’t seem like a good decision to me not to announce this at E3. Halo is the face of Microsoft, so I would think you’d want to do this.
What does everyone else think? Are you are glad this is happening? Do you care? Does this make you want to get an X1X now? Are you as perplexed as I am as to why this wasn’t announced at E3?
I for one am happy this is happening but I’m doubtful this will make me get an X1X yet, but hey, who knows.
I’m happy 4K is coming to Halo 5. They have their reasons for not revealing it at E3, so I don’t really care that they didn’t.
They don’t want to take focus off of new games with a game that will be over 2 years old by the time it actually gets this update.

Not really excited,mcc still needs fixing and halo 5 should get another update and I think those should’ve been higher on their priority list
I think their focus on that 4K update announcement was on games that came out this year.

They haven’t talked about it yet, but I’m guessing that the update that brings 4k will also bring HDR support and be the last content update the game will get. We’ll get whatever REQs still exist and maybe a new map or two, I bet.
I’m sure it will appeal to some, but I’d rather they address the bugs and add proper LAN support to H5, as well as fix the disgrace that is the Master Chief Collection.
This is great news, and I’ll be very interested to see how it works. Halo 5 focused on keeping 60fps whilst varying the resolution, so if it’s the same on the One X then the resolution may drop below 4k at times. But then there’s some recent benchmarks that have just been released that show the One X running games in 4k at higher framerates than the Xbox One does at 1080P, so who knows, Halo 5 just might be able to run in 4k all the time.
I’m definitely not getting X1X. They are asking about $500 for it, and every new standard game with it is $60. The investment isn’t worth it for me.

This may not add much to the discussion, but since you asked, no I don’t care. HD still looks fine to me, so I have no plans to invest in a 4K TV. This is partly because I don’t use my TV for anything besides console gaming, and I watch all my TV and movies on my laptop.

I’m not about to drop hundreds of dollars on a 4K Xbone and hundreds more on a 4K TV, when HD looks fine to me. Not to mention the only game I play on my Xbone is Halo 5, so I’d be doing that just to make one game look better.

Not really. To be honest, if this was all the Halo news they had for us at E3, I probably would have been even more disappointed.

I second this. This would have been better but I guess it’s about future.
