With all these new 4k ultra technologies like the power of the new Xbox one x, will HW2 be able to benefit even though the game I assume was developed before 4k technology was released? Would it be like remastered to upgrade to 4k?
I suppose another good question would be does 343 industries have any plans for a new title for the new Xbox One X? If so, this could be a determining factor if I am to invest in an entirely new 4k setup.
At the end of the E3 briefing Phil Spencer confirmed HW2 is getting the one X treatment for free.
Yes, on November 7th you will get an update that allows the console version on the Xbox One X to run at 4k (if it is native).
The ONLY issue I have is if they are going to make the UI scalable. I have the PC version as well for Halo Wars 2 and in 4k, the UI is really small. I really hope when the Xbox One X patch that the UI scales and/or they give the user UI scale options. I love how it looks on PC in 4k, but can’t stand the UI being so small. I game on a 75" TV and still feel the UI is too small at 4k. But hot damn does it look fantastic in 4k.
The only thing that needs to be done on a game to make 4K good, is make the UI scale and keep performance optimised.
What I don’t get is how the UI in HW DE scales fine in 4K but anything over 1440p makes the UI too small in HW2.
Yeah, it makes zero sense. It just seems like a lot of stuff in HW2 is mis-managed or not thought through fully. Giving UI scale option should be a given, like many other games.
If they can make the Xbox One X version 4k Native @30fps solid with no screen tear and the UI scales it will be great. I am hoping for the best, but honestly, don’t know if 343/CA are up the challenge since there is so many questionable things it the game as it is.

If your buying an Xbox one X solely for halo wars 2 it’s pointless. I did not see any huge improvement from the Xbox one S to the Xbox one X. Even FPS is locked in due to the CPU used in the Xbox one X.
If you want to see other games like halo 5, cod WW2 , then there was a huge improvement . Games look amazing in 4k and I have an OLED 4k tv.
