I keep getting this message whenever I click the “menu” button to reply/quote/thank/etc

“403 - Forbidden: Access is denied.

Any idea what’s going on?

that usually happens to me if i try and post in a locked thread

if it keeps happening… did you try Logging out, and logging back into Waypoint?

Which section gives you that error?

And if that section is not News or War Games Feedback, then which threads?

I don’t think you can post in a locked thread. Try the logging out idea too.

i mean, i’m typing up a response for a thread that is locked as i’m pressing the “post” button.

In a locked thread, there is no reply or menu. How???

Just coming back to this, been sick with the Flu until the other day. It happened to me first in the Halo 4 section but I just tried to quote Cobb’s post and I got the message there too. Not sure I can isolate it anything specific, seems to happen anywhere.

@Caders - If you open up the reply button and start your reply you can still post whatever it is you are typing even if a thread gets locked while you are typing your response. It’s a rare occurrence because the timing has to be so exact.

In other words it goes like this: Open “Reply” link -> Thread gets locked -> Post reply.

Thank you for that information. When you see the error does it still show you logged in, or for that brief moment do the forums log you out?

hmmmm.

I actually can’t tell if it logs me out or not, the page does not have any of the forum icons on it, just the error message. It takes me to this page: https://forums.halowaypoint.com/controls/#

I get that error on every forum page on waypoint, but only if I’m signed into a specific live account. Every other account works fine.

Interesting. I only have one Live account so I have to live with it

I just managed to get that rare occurrence a few seconds ago, I realized it after reading this that it was due to it being locked.

I think I understand now. Are you clicking on “Menu” and immediately being brought to an error page, as if “Menu” were a hyperlink?

I noticed that the Menu button is programmed as a hyperlink to that URL. It is coded to preventDefault when clicked (that is, it will prevent the default hyperlink behavior from occurring, so you don’t actually go to its URL) and then show the post controls (Reply, Quote, and so on). If your problem is what I think it is, then I think that for some reason, the button is not preventing the default behavior properly when you click it.

Cobb: Yep that’s exactly what happens. If I click the “Menu” button the error message pops up immediately.

In fact…the “Menu” button doesn’t even expand, not for a split second even (which is why I couldn’t just “edit” this into my last post).

Thank you all very much for the information. Our web team will investigate.

Something worth mentioning: I am browsing the forums from my computer at home now and I have full access to everything with no errors.

The errors I received were on my computer at work (which has no Internet filters by the way) which is running the exact same browser (Chrome).

I have no idea why I’m having issues at work (didn’t used to) and everything is just fine at home…but who knows, maybe one of you web gurus can figure that out
