I’m sorry, but it took 343i over four years to make Halo 4 which they barely were able to ship it out on time but came with so many bugs and it required… Was it two or three title updates? Just to fix the bugs it shipped with.
My point is how can they produce another game in under two years when the first game was almost a flop, I have serious doubts on this especially with such a fast push for a new game I bet they can’t do anything with my Halo 5 community suggestions thread.

Comparing apples to oranges.
It took 343 four years to build up Waypoint, work on numerous other side projects AND build H4.
The side projects are seemingly done, we have no idea when work on H5 officially started, and no idea when it’s being released.
> I hardly doubt it only started once Halo 4 launched.
Work for it started as soon as the concept guys were done concepting for H4. That probably puts it well before the certification for H4.
> Yup, because we know exactly who is working on what and exactly WHEN they started production on the game, right?

You are right, but looking at Halo 4’s launch, they were barely able to ship it out the door it seems.
How could they justify shipping their first game while simultaneously working on the next game when the first game is degraded because of it?
It took 4 years to develop the basic ideas for the Reclaimer Trilogy story arc and Halo 4. Those first four years were spent doing a lot more than just Halo 4. The Reclaimer trilogy is planned out in advance to some degree.

You finish building the core parts of the game engine WELL before you get to gold certification. At that point those people can go ahead and move on to the next project.
And who is to say they didn’t hire employees explicitly to work on the next gen engine?
I’m not even going to start in on this argument because all it’s going to do is rehash ancient history.
At this point, does it really matter??? We know we’re getting a Halo game next year. Obviously not everyone was thrilled with Halo 4 but it’s obvious 343 has been listening to complaints and is working on the game.
Saying, “But look at how Halo 4 was shipped!” is going to do nothing to alter the fact that they are releasing a game next year except for stir up old arguments and open old wounds for nothing more than what’s essentially sport. What’s the point?

Not every member of the development team is going to be working at every stage of development. You have concepting, builting the 3D assets, the engine, debugging, and so much more. In fact, it’s really only the producers and team managers that are working during the whole development cycle. Once concepting was done for Halo 4, the concepting team could have started on Halo 5 right away.

I do understand this, to develop a solid game doesn’t it normally take about three years total to ship games?
In either case I’m still using the comparison of Halo 4’s launch and all the issues that came along with it.
Halo 4 shipped with terrible issues concerning map holes, balances for player spawns/weapon spawns, lack of functional ranks along with bugged up kill cams.
I don’t think they could ship a solid matchmaking and campaign experience and also take in any game feedback anyone has offered at the same time.

Me? You should quote whomever you are responding to and/or criticizing.
They started production on H5 before Halo 4 shipped, and on top of that, they almost never had a complete team at 343i throughout Halo 4’s dev cycle. This’ll be the first time 343i creates a Halo game with a full team; they had been building as they went.

If by “criticism” you mean calling 343I a bunch of names and saying they are trash and not explain WHY and HOW to improve…then yea good job.
