The aim assist is way way way to high for a 4 shot precision rifle. They increased movement speed and still strafing does nothing. All strafing does is make it fractionally harder for the person strafing to hit their shots on this game. Nobody missing results in people fearing movement and staying on the outskirts of the map. I do think some aim assist is necessary. Lag needs some sort of compensation. But, it gets to a point where it is almost like the game is playing for you and my aim can’t get any better due to aim assist limitations. The skill gap is compromised by extreme aim assist. You literally don’t have to aim on this game at all. All these “halo 3 fans” claiming how awesome these settings are could be called ignorant. I’m am an old school halo fan myself but this new setup is just bad. All this new setup did was encourage camping because you can’t avoid shots. It turns the game into a COD/gears cover shooter. Anyway doesn’t it take more skill to hit 5 shots instead of 4?
Weapons still would have been easy in the event of a DMR nerf. The only difference would be that players would easily escape every situation due to the inclusion of Sprint and Thruster Pack.
As it’s been said before, nerfing the DMR would do nothing but make encounters and matches longer because of slow kill times and too many methods of escape. Sprint, thruster, jetpack, etc. would have all allowed for people to get away quickly.
Weapon buffs worked better, but I do agree that the aim assist needs to be toned down.

I’ve played against MANY good strafers, seems to work just fine.

I’m guessing you didn’t play much of the old trilogy. Halo 4’s strafe acceleration is slower, aim assist angle is wider, head shot hit boxes are bigger. In all respects strafing is less effective. min kill times were an achievement in past Halo games now they are the norm.
110 movement doesn’t do much to help strafing because it takes 10% longer to change direction. To be honest I feel the movement speed increase was implemented more to help out sprinters running away from BRs than it was to help strafe.

I think your aim may have just been off. You can’t be good at strafing. Maybe their are just better players in doubles. That is all I play. I just played with my xbox controller on the PC version of Crysis. Then I realized how rediculous the aim assist is on halo. I actually had to focus on my aiming and missed alot of shots at first. Do you realize how much the skill gap would widen with lesser aim assist and Bmag? It would take practice to get good. Which would be terrible apparently in 343’s opinion. I think that is why unreal tournament for xbox failed. People hate a challenge. They like to be good instantly. I’m a bullrush player and without a gun skill gap I suffer. I am not a fortifier. I like organized chaos.
The people they are putting in charge of this balancing and tuning have really disappointed me. They tested for a very long time. It still feels like a beta update. This needs lots of work and nobody is talking. They made it where they could make changes without a title update. Why not tweak things slightly each week? Only the loyalists remain anyone. You are going to make the casuals upset.

Yes having less aim assist would widen the skill gap, but I feel like you’re exaggerating how easy it is to aim and how ineffective strafing is in this game.
I still out BR average players and I am able to make them miss on a consistent bases. I do miss at times, but overall my superior shot still shines through.
I out strafe players all the time even when they have a DMR or BR. It comes down more to the player wielding the gun than the gun itself. Sure the BR in halo 4 is way easier than it is in Halo 3 but even in Halo 3 I have easy enough of a time landing shots. I’m so used in Halo 3 to leading shots after all these years the less auto aim doesn’t affect me much.
I used to win against my 50s friends in straight BR fights back in Halo 3…Now im no one, it doesnt matter how good i am at aiming because the other player can always land perfect 4SK no matter how much i strafe, so but of us die in straight combat…Its hard to me to find a game were i cant win in plain skill situations, from Tribes, to AgeOfEmpires3(micromanaging), Halo3, all CODs, MP3, BF3, AC: Brotherhood my list pretty much covers everything…BUT NO HALO 4 …
