4 Promethean Knights too Tough?

Ten-Hut!
Ahoy Marines! I’ve got Warzone Firefight question for ya:
Have you ever noticed that on The Map: Attack On Sanctum the final Wave with the 4 Promethean Knights is really hard?
In fact I can’t ever recall beating this wave on legendary. (Even when I use the best Reqs at my disposal)

The Reasons I think its too hard are:

  • Each Knight is armed with a HEARTSEEKER an extremely deadly Incineration Cannon that tracks. - The Terrain where they spawn gives The Knights and their Army a big advantage, with no clear Sniping opportunities for Heavy Vehicles. Also 2 of the Knights usually head into the near by Garage. - The Knight’s health is really high… but I suppose thats expected of bosses in Warzone Firefight. - The Knights have got a Small Army with them, plus the shear amount of Soldiers they’ve got is stifling, each Soldier is either a Sniper or Captain. Not to mention there’s also a bunch of regular Knights too. These enemies negate moving in on foot in my opinion. The Phaetons that spawn in make it pretty difficult for Air Vehicles to move in. - And finally the Watchers (if l recall correctly) can heal the Knights, which is devastating.Well those are my opinions on the Wave.

I think it’s do-able but it’-Yoink!-, miss. Warzone firefight generally a unbalanced mess. I might be wrong but I suspect Wraiths might be more useful against Knights plus it’s way too easy to get taken out due to the weapons having way too accurate aiming, same problems can happen even on Mythic. Think for the Phaetons it might be best to get some plasma pistols and let the team blast it to hell before attempting the Knights but falling back with a hydra/rocket might help too. Also yes the Watchers heal too, it’s best to take them out as soon as possible since I’ve seen some even fully heal a Warden nearly instantly.

Plasma launcher ia best for knights.

Oh definitely, but the Knights have a small Army of Soldiers with them which kills almost any ground assault.

It’s one of the final rounds where you really need all of your team to be useful, but it is beatable. I’ve found using a Scorpion is better than a Wraith just in case the Knight goes into the garage since it can be hard to get a decent angle with the Wraith. You’ll also want to use more heavily armored tank in case the Knights start targeting you with their cannons.

The best spot that I’ve found is to camp on the road path that’s on the right side of the temple which is near the lift that shoots you over to the garage. You’ll get a clear shot of the Knights and most of the AI want bother you for most of the round, but some of them might start heading your way after awhile. Be sure to take out the Phaetons and Watchers as soon as possible as well. If your team brings out decent vehicles and works together, then you should win.

They are tough yes, but I find them really annoying to deal with, anything that has explosive or anything that involves a big scary laser, makes them weak like plastic

Like most FF bosses you’re going to need vehicles, vehicles, and more vehicles. This round relies on having teammates in tanks, wasps, or whatever else suits their fancy and not just using loadouts. REQ weapons aren’t very useful since they’ll quickly run out of ammo and you’ll waste time running to a REQ station to get another.

Oh, it’s certainly do-able. I’ve done it multiple times before simply using a Wraith with next to no difficulty. Really, though, you do need competent teammates to pass it with no difficulty. If your mates decide to focus only the soldiers for whatever reason, the difficulty goes way up. Everyone going for the same Knight at once doesn’t help much either, since it’s still a long time to down just one of them meanwhile you could’ve dented the armor of another knight in the process and give the others a head start. All in all, it’s not too bad, but your teammates make or break it.

Except in Mythic. I haven’t even gotten there cause of how bad some of the previous waves are (COUGH COUGH Mantis COUGH COUGH Garage).

Absolutely. It’s true that the Mythic Knights are a real pain, but it’s best to concentrate your fire on one Knight at a time (kill the small fry when necessary), then move onto the next one.

As for that -Yoink!- Mantis boss that falls into the garage, I tried to catch it and scoop it out with a Wasp. It failed miserably.

Yeah, it’s one of those rounds where you just have to hope your team decides to call in enough heavy vehicles. They probably should have toned down the never-ending army of Knights but the worst part is that one of the boss Knights likes to hide in the garage.

Actually no it’s not, because those run out of ammo and don’t offer you any protection, unlike vehicles.

Definitely sucks when this happens. I always found that the wrath ultra works great, but like others have said, teamwork usually triumphs.

I think I’ve done this wave several times before but it may have been when I was grinding heroic to quickly get the commendations done I can’t remember. I normally find Attack on Sanctum is the easiest map (maybe I just get lucky and never get the round you’re talking about or I have a really good team). Unless those four mantises spawn in round 4… I think I’ve only beat those once because of that one that just has to spawn in the garage… sigh.

The last round has two different battles which could contend to be the hardest in FF and a hard round 4 with the Mantises, so I’d say you’ve been lucky. Surprisingly, it also has the funnest last round in FF as well with defending the Forerunner cores.

Nate, please don’t tell me you’ve never used a plasma caster on a Knight…

I have. For a weapon, they are pretty good at killing Knights. But I have to dispute the claim that they are the best thing to use against Knights, because Ultra Ghosts, Oni Warthogs, Needle Warthogs, Wraiths and Scorpions exist.

I don’t know about you, but I’m generally more comfortable engaging a Knight by sniping with a White Scar (the proximity detonation is amazing!) than getting blown up by a Heartseeker in my Temple Wraith. IMHO, the Heartseeker on the Knights needs a serious nerf, just like the fuel rod cannon’s tracking on the Mythic hunters.

As fun as it is to use White Scars, I prefer the Temple Wraith strategy because I like to maximize damage output, even if it means a more “in your face” play style compared to hanging back and sniping. Playing defensively and focusing on surviving is nice and all, but if the team isn’t dishing out enough damage, the time limit will be more of a problem than dying. I would happily use White Scars in firefight if they didn’t have the problem of running out of ammo, however.

I can agree with that

If 5 of your teammates have scorpions or wraiths theres a good chance. Wait until the army is thin then get overshield, upgraded shields and razors edge (i find this useful for the glowing orbs of the knight) then give it a backsmack.

I think it plays right into their business model to make the higher rounds harder. The farther into the game players get, the more they want to win. So, put some ridiculous bosses that require REQs to be used in order to win. Requiring REQs to be used means players are more likely to purchase REQ packs later with real money. Why else aren’t there more ludicrous FF modes like the ones in Reach matchmaking where players completely demolish everything? Why else is matchmaking the only way to play FF (need a workaround for customs)?

I’ve had trouble with that round many times in the past but most of the time it’s either because my teammates are idiots or because no body is using effective reqs. it’s just one of those rounds where you need to be coordinated in my opinion.
