4 Days...

4 days, and I am already finding myself bored with Halo 4.

Don’t get me wrong, it is a solid game, and I know a lot of people here love the game. I don’t mean any disrespect to you guys, or to 343 and the people who worked on it, but the game just isn’t keeping my interest at all, and I don’t know if I’m the only one.

The playlist’s aren’t fun, at all. You play Infinity Slayer or Slayer Pro, and you get the same four maps every single time: Haven, Abandon, Solace and Adrift. While they are all semi-decent maps, one can only play Haven so many times in a row before you want to just crack your disk. BtB NEEDS objective, because I’m almost getting sick of Slayer. Why do we need separate playlists for KOTH/Oddball/CTF? Team Snipers/Griffball?

Spartan Op’s has no replay ability. It’s the same old “Kill these enemies. Check this out. Click this switch. Oh no, kill these guys before you can go!” If I wanted that, I would go back to MW2 and “RAMIREZ!”

I don’t know, but I am just finding myself unable to stay interested - even more so than when Reach came out.

Seems like you’re just looking for reasons to hate this game. They’ll be more maps dude.

What a fanboy response, holy crap.

OP, I agree with you. I even only played around a dozen or so games and it was everything you said it is.

Take a break and come back, I’ve heard that has helped a lot of people. Also, Spartan Ops wasn’t designed to be replayed, it was made to add onto the gameplay and offer new weekly content to users.

I am also a bit fatigued by the map rotation. I played Haven four times in a row today.

I enjoy the separate playlists for separate gametypes.

I don’t go into Big Team looking to play CTF or any objective gametype. I go into it to play Slayer. When I want to play CTF, I can go to the CTF playlist.

I would blame people more than the game for playing the same map over and over again. I constantly play almost nothing but Ragnarok in Big Team because that is all anyone will vote for.

Lol at playing a game you’re not a fan of and constantly complaining about.

I should still be given the option to do Objective in BTB. Some of the most fun I’ve had has been that kind of game - like CTF on Boneyard in Reach, for example.

Then they should make a Big Team Objective playlist.

I wouldn’t say no to this, but why couldn’t it have been included at the start? Honestly, this feels like a Beta Test to me - it’s unpolished and unrefined in places.

Holy hell, give them a frikken chance. It’;s been less than a week!!

RE playlists: They’ve said they’re going to be updatiung the playlists much more frequently than they did with Reach (hence SWAT this week).

RE maps: 1) People are voting in the same maps over and over (also, you missed a couple)
2) a new map pack comes out in a few weeks anyway…the first 3 of 9 additional maps.
3) the Forge community will likely have some maps included in the rotation in the near future.

RE BTB being only slayer: I kind of agree on this; but what it should be is an additional playlist called BTB objective or “mixed” (BTB objective plus occasional slayer). This will likely happen soon-ish in one of their frequent playlist updates - possibly around the time the first map pack drops.

Just chill out - it’s only been several days sheesh.

So because the players keep voting for the same map over and over again its 343s fault?? While I do agree that map rotation is a bit repetitive, its not 343’s fault that people keep voting for Exile or Ragnorak in BTB, or Abandon/Haven/Solace in IS. Its just a community favorite. Considering teh game hasn’t even been out for a week I am not suprised that map rotation is repetitive since the Forge community has not had that much time to create maps and get them introduced into the rotation. Not to mention that you have 3 promised DLC’s with one being right around the corner.

Also lack of playlist complaints? Really?? Do you not read the blog provided by 343 on the front page? It specifically said that they will be adding in playlist as time goes on. SWAT is coming in this week. So there is something new for you to do. Griffball, Extraction, Team Snipers etc are all possibilities of being implemented in due time.

Not to mention when I would join BTB in past games, I only wanted to do Slayer variants. I personally do not want to play an objective game when Im in the mood to go around killing people. However I do think that they should implement a BTB Objective playlist and a playlist with all objectives combined. That would be a rather fun playlist to have.

Spartan Op’s was not meant to have tons and tons of replay-ability. It was meant to be an extra little something to do after you finished the campaign to add story and to do something different with your friends for like 15 minutes per chapter. Also would you please tell me in what Halo game have we not had to clear out enemies before being able to leave the area? Halo 3 first mission was to clear a LZ. It is a shooter, you will be shooting and killing enemies.

If you are getting bored just take a break from it or do some split screening and get some friends over.

The first week is supposed to - in my opinion - be the most fun one. You’re still digesting the story, the new aspects of the universe, and the sandbox. You’re still learning the maps and the gametypes. Everything still feels new and exciting. And it kind of goes downhill, or at least into a routine, from there.

If people are already getting bored with Halo 4, I don’t think it’ll get better. I’m personally not a big fan of the game currently. My problems lay largely in how ugly and hard to navigate the user interface is, the fact that my Spartan looks ugly no matter how I outfit him, the lack of fixed weapon placements on maps, the eradication of map control and teamwork, and the playlists in general. All of those playability issues aside, I hate how much depth has been removed from Forge and customs, I hate the lack of Firefight, and I don’t feel the urge to play the campaign again - nothing was memorable about it.

All that said, my biggest issue is definitely Infinity Slayer. I hate this stupid style of play where everyone gets to go out onto the battlefield outfitted differently, and they get to choose their own power weapons for their kill streaks. It destroys map control and makes the game a quickly-deteriorating killing affair where little thought is applied. It’s not the classic Halo style of play. And the fact that there’s no way to revert to that is appalling to me. I want my vanilla Team Slayer back. I don’t much care for Infinity Slayer, and since I was a Slayer guy, that means that none of these playlists have anything for me.
