Hi
I want to know by a dev or someone of 343, Will Halo 4 features 4:3 fullscreen mode on SDTV or it will be like Halo anniversary with horrible black bars (letterbox)?
Thank you.

Thank you.
I would imagine you’ll get the letter box issue…since most people have a HDTV these days.
I could be wrong though.
As a gamer, I suggest you invest in a new TV.
i don’t know if I can buy a new tv before Halo 4 release, so it’s a matter of “buy or not buy”
if it’s letterbox, I’ll wait for halo 4 until I have a new tv, but it could take a lot
Hope it will support 4:3.
any news about sdtv support?
I don’t know about sdtv support but you may consider buying a very cheap 720p LCD monitor. If it doesn’t have HDMI, you’ll need a special VGA cable. It’ll probably require external sound device because most monitors don’t have RCA ports. It’s cheap if you already have some speakers.
I used to play on a 1440x900 monitor when I lived in campus.
P.S. It’s possible to connect a monitor to xbox with HDMI<->DVI cable as well but with no sound. For sound you’ll need a default RCA cable connected to speakers. But I don’t know if you can use two separate cables (video/audio) simultaneously. I know you can do it on PS3 but I’m not sure about xbox.
It does support 4:3 TV’s. 343 said so in the Halo Anniversary thread.
So no letter box? It is very annoying to play on a sad tv when half the picture is gone
Pretty sure it will be letter boxed. Can you even buy a 4:3 TV anymore? Get a VGA cable and a monitor. That’s what I use when my TV is occupied by my girlfriend watching annoying reality TV.
I’ve tried the VGA and monitor before and there is still input lag. I don’t think you an buy them but the one I have is nice and there is absolutely zero input lag

There’s no such thing as input lag when you’re using an analog signal.

I play on a CRT and I am a hardcore gamer. 100+ days of pure gametime.

I believe he is referring to the scaling on HD. Every Halo game has had a slight delay on HD. Some TV’s are worse than others. Probably has something to do with the game not actually being rendered in true HD and having to be scaled. My Plasma is the best HDTV I’ve played on besides my old 40" CRT Sony I had but that thing weighed 350lbs.
Somone with the game in hand, can confirm if the Halo 4 run fullscreen or letterboxex on SDTV?

if you mean run as in you can play the game then yes.
you mean it has black bars?
