Neat idea in theory…but
1: how many people will be able to utilize this,
2: is it really worth it if you appearance changes on your mood, you could get a req of a better armor set and regret your decision to waste the plastic.
3…is it really necessary with everything else that money could be invested in like i dont know story and more gametypes for the actual game
Admittedly, it’s an option that few will be able to utilise, but I know I’d still giggle like a little girl if someone gave me a 3D copy of my Recon-armoured Spartan.
3D printing your spartan? What did I miss?
do you know what a 3d printer is? 343 made it so your spartan can be translated to a file that the printer reads. In english, get printer, press button, presto!

So? What OP is saying is that they are turning resources that could go into improving the game away and redirecting them to some feature only 0.02% of users will ever use.
I’m sold
exactly

If 0.02% are going to use it then I doubt there wasting to much money.

Doubt the resources used for that would do squat to the game itself.
They have the 3D models
Having a library with them and a connection to users who choose what they want, then exporting that, if they’re not already exported which they most likely are, send it to the user. With the files being connected. We can already dress our spartans here on waypoint which is also in 3D. Not a big step.
You can probably view it in the 3D paint on Win10 as well. I’m probably going to try to import to UE4 and have fun there.
I’m in
Sounds cool
I’d just be happy if MS & McFarlane could go back to the glory of Halo: Reach figures. Only thing really left up to you was the paintjob, if you wanted.

They’re not though. They’ve set up a deal with a 3rd party company who will have access tot the 3D model files for each persons armour.
You’ve also got to understand that they’re not taking game developers away from doing content to make this. 343i is a huge company and will have an entire department dedicated to this kind of thing and other merchandise

Considered the cost of a decent 3d printer it would likely be better just uploaded your 3d design to a company that could print it for you.
Guys, they will print it for you!
I would so do this if I could find a 3D Printer and it didn’t cost a lot.
When is this happening? And do they print it for you and send it to you?
Guys, I believe it’s a service that prints them for you which would mean A LOT more than 0.02% would be using it.
