Obviously. That’s exactly my point… They have worded things as if their customers/fans are the problem, when in fact the problem is that 343 has failed in numerous ways to meet a bare minimum quality bar for their product.
If you didnt know she was a high level executive you would almost wonder if she was lost. This video is like they sat her down and made her make a video apology to microsoft for missing launch alongside the xbox. Nothing even comes close to adressing the myriad of genuine issues, but she was salty she couldnt plug the next cat ears date.
I think it for the most part does hold true. There’s really only been one “comeback” and that’s No Man’s Sky. ( No, MCC doesn’t count, it took 6 years, and will forever be marred by that).
Having patches be possible combined with the corporatization of gaming is why everything is f’d up these days, managment makes the ship out whatever trash, shrug and say “We’ll patch it post launch”. The consumers also share some blame when they play defense for these broken games.
People are returning to MCC because of HI, it deserves its comback status. Also FF14 is a true comeback story. There arent a lot of redemption stories. But there are still notible ones.
In that one they had to, they felt the need to to make up to the core player base, which helped in the long run for certain, Halo needs its humbling, to realise where its messed up, or in this case 343, the executive’s hubris is poisoning the franchise.
How can there actually be any form of real communication when the company from what’s being said is blaming the fans?
When does it come to a point that a company takes responsibility for their own actions?
When will they stop lying knowing it’s been 6 years now knowing it’s not working?
We’ve been feed all kinds of lines from this company but their actions (literally show otherwise.) There is no communication and there never will be even though Joe or others that might care about the the state of the game. They literally do not make the calls so it doesn’t matter what they say or how much they say. The higher-ups are the actual problem with this entire game.
They are the ones you have to convince. Good luck with that.
Is "we broke all these amazing older games that we didn’t make, but then we fixed them after 4 years" really a redemption story, though?
I’m confused how taking years to accomplish bare minimum levels of functionality for products not even made by this developer is a story of redemption.
There do unfortunately also exist many cases that features remain broken indefinitely. We should at least be happy with the case that 343 Industries made a huge leap in terms of improving MCC in the last 2 years by for instance adding PC support, adding additional features like a long term rank progression system, new maps for Halo 3, improved forge, introduction of custom firefight to Halo 3: ODST and improved customization system.
The good thing with 343 Industries is at least that they have a recent track record to fix issues and improve there games (despite the fact that it do usually take some time). For me,the most important part for a game is that it’s enjoyable and Halo Infinite’s campaign has meet the quality bar by a significant margin.
I can never take Bonnie Ross seriously again after she went on stage and said “EPIC WORLDS. EPIC BATTLES. EPIC SCALE.”
Halo 5 was anything but Epic. It was mediocre at best, and alienating at worst, and in no way epic.
I swear to god, I don’t even know what on earth she does, but it’s not helping the Halo franchise at all.
Unfortunately these business practices are financially benefiting the franchise. All these brand deals combined with the macrotransaction shop is generating a stupid amount of income, so the people making the game don’t really have an incentive to do anything the fans say or suggest until it effects their bottom line.
And their bottom line is probably super far away considering all those cat ear purchases, NERF, energy drinks, nail polish, shoes, action figures, the show, doritos, etc.
I didn’t mention anything about business, I just merely said it’s not helping the Halo Franchise. Halo has really lost steam as a videogame brand and titan over the past 10 years, and this is no thanks to 343’s failures. Yea sure they’re making money alright, but the way they are doing it is akin to slaughtering the Golden Goose to get the eggs.
No yeah I understand, I was just reinforcing the ‘why’ of it. Fully agree. I don’t think anything major will change unless they revise their approach to monetization, or they might be baking something REAL special and just don’t wanna let us know yet, maybe they wanna blow us outta the water with some crazy exciting roadmap and to build it they need time but I mean.
Til then.
People should understand halo infinite is an incomplete game, I rather halo 5 but I feel deep in mi mind that infinite will be better.
Just add the levitation while zooming
Remember the video 343 made to explain req packs in halo 5?
I remember
Whats the point of fixing things if you have no fans/players still playing the game.
Not sure how I missed this video but having just watched it they are clearly blaming the state of the game last year and now on issues in the development process during the pandemic. I have nothing else to say other than that knew we were in pandemic and millions of other businesses had to adjust too…so 343i and Microsoft should have adjusted even more so if it meant their flagship product wasn’t going to meet their or the fans expectations…and that includes pushing deadlines and release date back even further if needed.
This sounds like total mismanagement to me, however I also get the sense that they don’t actually know what they want to do or what they should be doing with Halo as they don’t have a clear vision or direction of where they want to take it and where it should be going.
Oh, there’s no doubt in my mind that it will be better.
The doubt in my mind is if it will ever be a big game again
Exactly right. This “we know better than you do” will kill the game faster than anything.
The game is unplayable for me as it stand currently on my Xbox One X. I continually get put on 250+ ms ping time servers because their Automagic Matchmaking server thinks Alberta Canada is somehow closer to Amsterdam Servers than Seattle Server. When it ~20% of the time selects the Seattle Server, I get 25 ms ping times and the game play is generally acceptable, except for Melee. This isn’t my internet, my Xbox or anything else. Their code is broken and until they add back Manual Server Selection (as in Halo 5 and MCC), the game will be broken trash and remain uninstalled on my Xbox.
Have you played H5 at all? It’s the best MP out of the entire franchise
If it had two more years, with a new producer Joe staton who was able to get the project more focused. It would have launched content complete and be able to have a normal 3 month season cadense.
