343s stance on players deleting maps?

Modifying game files so you dont have to play certain maps should be actionable/bannable.

343 should prevent players from deleting maps in the first place, and take action against players who do it on purpose. Not sure who is speaking in the video, but an example from today 2OCT2022.

Has 343 made any comments on this? Maybe they need to be tweeted at.

I haven’t seen any comments about this from 343, but this isn’t the first time it has been mentioned. It has also occurred in my sessions too. I think some of the new maps are refreshing to play I don’t get why people delete them. I don’t really enjoy isolation but I’ll still play it.

Same here, it’s just another map and more gameplay in Halo 3, nothing else. It should be bannable if you do things like this. For all they know, someone waited so long to get into that match, just to wait again.

Should be done to launchsite, lmao.

what it tells me is either one of two things needs to happen:

  • they need to add map-pack specific toggles in the composer. i/e if you don’t want specific map-packs to show up for you in matchmaking, you can disable that entire pack as you would for the general gametype selections before queuing so they won’t show up. (this method would slow matchmaking to a crawl and make it pretty stale imo, but it is technically closer to legacy functionality in how map-packs were originally implemented)

  • they need to make map weights equal and add Veto to the Composer so that less people will feel inclined to delete maps (if people can reroll the map, they typically won’t attempt to cheat the composer as there is an actual option available to prevent it from getting stuck looping the same settings, and anyone else can go to the CGB for a specific gametype and settings if it’s consistently Vetoed)

Disagree, if players don’t like some maps in the rotation and it negatively impacts their experience, they should 100% be allowed to delete their own map files so they don’t have to play them. Odds are the maps getting deleted by most are unpopular maps, and I don’t blame them, I’d take map voting over MCC’s weight system any and every day.

Replying to the comment above from Revan:

This should be a bait, there’s no way somebody can say that despite the fact it is not allowed modifying the game files (since this is considered cheating) Also, It affects everyone’s experience since everyone from the lobby gets disconnected and sometimes they receive a ban for that

I don’t think 343 has said anything but Postums or someone working from the MCC team should be made aware of this. Probably best to report it through Halo Support, I’ll report the same with your same clip if you don’t mind, they react faster and understand better the greater the sample size and ticket numbers are.

I encourage everyone else do the same.

they should have a map voter, might help a little bit.

Ah see I was unaware of that it actually disconnects other players, however 343 should find a way to patch that, whilst still allowing players to remove the files that prevents them and ONLY them from playing on said maps.

However modifying game files is very much allowed, SPV3, Cursed Halo, the Halo Randomizers, they all come from modified files, however modifying files in matchmaking that cause negative outcomes for other players SHOULDN’T be allowed.

They did, before the match composer and proper playlist setups, we did have a voting system, which imo should be revamped and re-implemented properly to work WITH the match composer and playlist setups.

You know, I hate some of the maps I play on, but I wouldn’t go to the extent of deleting maps to not play them

Something should be done to prevent this

I did this a few months ago when I first ran into it; typical response of a closed ticket. This isnt even my first post here about this issue.

I dont think 343 Support actually reads the forums or the tickets, unfortunately. Seems to all be outsourced.

Ticket I submitted in May of this year.

how come they’ve never responded?

Tampering on any non-moddable games files (like MCC has a no anti-cheat so you can mod new games etc) should be a permanent ban. This is kind of concerning because if you can edit the files like this, it could open up so many potential exploits that could harm other gamers.

The early MCC prematch map voting would be a nice feature here. Especially if people are literally going as far as deleting files to avoid a map and continuing to successfully play/function.

i have no idea how this stuff work but i feel like there should be a system in the game were if it detects any missing or added files to the multiplayer it will just lock you out till they return or remove the files, just to reiterate, i have no -Yoink!- clue how this works.

Shoutout to the subreddit for deleting my post.

Edit: Automodded, not enough comment karma. Oh well.

Another reason for veto….

On a side not can we remove certain audio files for Reach, ODST, Halo 4 wand still be able to play? When your player sprints or gets shot. The noises are grunting and other weird sounds that I would rather not hear.
