343s rank system solutions are just LAZY

Honestly 343 fix the problem instead of avoiding it. Invisible rankings is an absolute joke. Tell tiger woods the world golf rankings and his major championships were invisible on his resume. Tell a true halo fan cod destroying gaming does not matter. Not having a good ranking system will truly take halo 4 from great game to just good game. The halo 2 and halo 3 systems had their flaws. But the ranking system was one of the major driving forces in the games’ success (ignore the truth if you will idc). In order to create high competition you have to have something to strive for. On reach, unless you were trying to go mlg or pretending to do so, you had absolutely nothing to strive for.

Three problems with halo 3 ranking system were a.) boosters b. ) derankers c.) cheaters

How to fix A, B, and C /b]
Simply make the ranking system challenging enough to where the highest level is literally and impossibility. This way people don’t get stuck at a cap and then have to derank to climb back up a ladder.
Next, 343 actually needs to set up the matches instead of players individually connecting to one another and giving out ip addresses. This would stop DDOS attacks and most network manipulation.
Also, make seasons. This way people can all get a new start, new stats, and a new reason to climb the ladder again . Most people hate seasons just because the whole arena system sucked. EVERY SPORT HAS SEASONS FOR A REASON. When an mlg team wins a tournament, they don’t just say well that’s it. they keep their ranking and so does everyone else. Future changes to the rankings are just invisible.

One of the ONLY reasons to have your rank skill visible to other players is to wag about your own epeen. As long as YOU can see it that’s the only thing that should matter in the end.

Lazy?

There is still a skill-based rank, and matches are affected by this skill-based rank. You just don’t get a little number next to your gamertag.

A number means nothing. The skill comes from the game. You don’t need a number to show that you’re good, just play good and they’ll know.

If it matters so much, boast your rank over your mic or make your service tag your rank.

And they did make something for hitting the max rank. You can now go back and specialize in things, so you get exclusive emblems and things.

Maybe hiding the rank is the only way of fixing it. Maybe it’s not. We’ll never know until it’s been put to practice.

I love what 343 has done with this game so far. It looks amazing. I still have balancing questions but I still like what I see. The ranking system will be the deciding factor in whether or not halo regains its title as king of competitive gaming. They don’t understand people or gaming when they throw around invisible ranks and Reach-like arena system. All there hard work and efforts to bring halo to the top of the mountain will be all for nothing if they don’t create a good ranking system. There are 8000 threads a day about this for a reason 343. You need to listen. Or you will have a mess like bungie did with reach. If you don’t like a ladder progression system go play socials, customs, or forge. That is the purpose for those playlists.

This way of thinking is just ignorant. Tell Michael Jordan his six rings didn’t matter. The only thing that mattered was having fun and competing. If I become a successful entrepreneur/ businessman that makes a multi million dollar company, I am going to buy big houses and nice cars as a way of showing off my success. You people live in the socialistic halo reach world where everyone should be considered the same.

I want somebody to prove me wrong. You aren’t arguing against my points at all. You are just making anti rank system comments.

They’re lazy? 343 is incorporating 2 ranking systems. 1. Is a progression system, which is similar to halo 3
2. The other is a truskill system.

To furthermore prove that they aren’t lazy, they could’ve easily scraped together the arena or 1-50 system, but theirs will be different from both.

Every multiplayer game I can think of has a progression system buddy. Reach had a true skill system. It was a lazy effort and it was bad.
