Without getting too negative. Personally I’m tired of 343’s excuses. From 343s mention back in the day that they “purposefully hired people who hated halo” to constantly telling it’s players what they want instead of listening to it’s audience, all the way up until now where they outsource CGI Cinematics to company’s who I guess… have never played the games before and don’t understand the lore of the game and how the covenant looked back in halo 3.

I understand that there are more important things going on in the world. But your “profession”, your sole role in life at this moment as a professional developer, is to care for this franchise. If You don’t feel inspired and honored to have that position. Please go develop games for Activision or Electronic Arts. I’m sure they have plenty of generic franchises for you to run into the ground or destroy with your monetization schemes. This shouldn’t be a hot take, It’s a privilege to work on one of the greatest IP’s ever created. an IP that’s gotten as close to mainstream as Star-Wars for the video game world. There are likely dozens if not hundreds of aspiring developers, musicians and designers who are passionate about this franchise that would happily take your place. At least pretend you care, because there are hundreds of thousands, if not millions of fans who actually do care.

Respectfully, someone whos tired of seeing my favorite intellectual properties grow, flower, and live long enough to be corrupted and mutilated.

That got real negative, real fast.

Having a different vision to you does not equate to them not caring. 343 answer to MS ultimately and with any big franchise you are forced to make decisions you don’t want to make no matter how passionate you are, that’s just how businesses work. Look at the film industry as a prime example of companies fiddling with artistic integrity.

What about their latest community update makes you think they don’t listen to their audience? It’s pretty clear they are actively listening, seeking feedback from the audience and making changes.

I dislike when people ignore the original context of this quote and only take that small sentence.

This is the full quote from the gamasutra article:

> “We had people who we hired who hated Halo because of ‘X,’” says O’Connor. “But what that really meant was, ‘I feel like this game could be awesome because of ‘Y input’ that I’m going to bring into it. I want to prove it, and I’m passionate about proving it.’ So we ended up with a bunch of people who were genuinely passionate about the product. That is a huge advantage, and that helped in hiring and forming our team.”
