Best ideas for 343 to incorporate into H4!
-
Optional/adjustable aim acceleration
-
Optional aim assist. In fact, anything you can turn into an option, do. Let us customize our play style.
3 Not so important) Don’t change the way things look too much when rehashing old content (like the jackal and battle rifle, etc.) The story line changes when jackals have always been considered bird-like in halo lore, then suddenly they look like dinosaurs. Not a killer problem, but its hurts the older veterans who have been loyal since the launch of the original Xbox/Halo CE.
4 Not important) There SHOULD be bloom, but it should only go as far as the SPREAD. Just to help the first shot be more accurate or all shots if you take your time.
-
Go back to Halo 2 jumping height/player speed. That was a good pace of play. Not sure if we need sprint honestly… If sprint IS incorporated, it should be activated when the movement stick is clicked while pushed all the way forward, and crouching should be activated when the movement stick is clicked while close to the center position if possible of course.

DUAL WIELDING! PLEASE tell me that there is DUAL WIELDING! And if the argument for leaving it out of H4 is that it was not used enough, then I have your counter argument: When dual wielding, you should have FULL power of BOTH weapons SIMULTANEOUSLY!
-
Ranked playlists should not incorporate armor abilities (AA) and everyone should spawn with the same weapon. Serious unranked playlists should be the same or at least incorporate less AAs. There should also be playlists that are the opposite extreme as well with all sorts of AAs and other noobabilities. Maybe i’m just bias, but I think Halo 2 had the PERFECT MP mode ever with the exception of the magnum. They should have brought back Halo CE pistol just nerfed a LITTLE. Especially handy if you don’t start off with a BR or other mid range weapon.
8 Important for veterans’ campaign experience) Revive the old style of Halo world. Huge, vast areas, completely exploratory with mind-numbing beauty and curiosity. I loved H1 campaign because you can see the areas that you have already passed and the areas you are going to arrive in later. There was a level in H1 where you can jump off a bridge, and skip taking the stairs down to the bottom where the battle is raging on. There was more than one way to go and finish the level and enemies were always waiting for you as seen in Assault on the Control Room where you can go into a door that takes you to a land bridge, then take this wedge shaped structure to the banshees (which were protected by a wraith) by going behind the wraith instead of destroying it and charging to the banshees.
- REALLY WITH THE XRAY VISION WTF?! BBQ?!?!?!!???!!! Noob tool. No new player will EVER get skilled playing with all of these handicap abilities! I used to love Team Hardcore in H2 where the damn radar was even disabled. Oh, the destruction I would wreak! That -Yoink- took REAL skill. Now the game is marketed to children under 17 (which this game is rated M [17+]) so what’s up with that? H2 was raw skill, you even had to learn how to use bxr and bxb and quad shot which all took skill, and if you were skilled enough to use it (effectively), you deserved your kills. Quad shot was the hardest -Yoink- to learn EVER! Mortal Kombat had NOTHING on quad shot.
343, Tread wisely the game that has revolutionized competitive FPS games forever! Just remember that feeling that used to give you goose bumps or make you -Yoink- your pants when you unexpectedly bumped into a wraith or Zealot elite wielding a sword.
You already have another thread about this.
Close this one…
2 things, did you make 2 of the same posts? and also i fail to see what barbecue has to do with Promethean vision
I agree with all points, but I’m not too worried about dual wielding
1, 2, 6, 7 are probably the most important, seeing as multiplayer will be the lifeblood of this game. Campaign only lasts so long. Promethian vision is 4 n00bi3s. Get some friggin skill
Halo 3 had dual wielding, so it would make sense that the next game will have it as well. I do not agree with what you said about bloom. I would be fine with bloom if it wasn’t for the fact that Master Chief can flip a tank…I figure if you can flip a tank you can hold a gun straight. Halo 2 is still my favorite MP, so I don’t mind if some of those attributes come back. And AA’s, I think they should be in because 343i will actually do it right and it makes games more intense sometimes.
- Aim assist should also be an option to turn off. Not having the option really inhibits a players best abilities. I play all my FPS games with no aim assist, as long as I have the option to shut it off, I do because it kills me.
I try quickly twitching to the left to bounce a grenade off a wall, an enemy is in the way of my reticle path, and it TOTALLY misplaces my grenade. I can NOT STAND IT! It is responsible for about 10% of all of my deaths and 20-25% of all my missed kills! It angers me so!!

Dual wielding was the lifeblood of H2! I remember at E3 when they first picked up a second weapon and everyone went NUTS! It BLEW OUR MINDS! Sure it has seen less usefulness, but that is because the ability is so nerfed. If holding two weapons gave you double the damaging power, people would be more apt to pick up a weapon for their left…

AAs really take away the competitive, fast-paced game that WAS Halo. Halo 2 was the most competitive halo game to ever exist, followed by Halo CE and those games gave BIRTH to MLG.
Halo: CE on Xbox. AAaah, those were the days <3

They’ve already confirmed that Dual Wielding’s out. I’m guessing it’s due to making the sandbox heavily unbalanced.

From what I’ve seen of the Campaign, they seem to be going for that breath taking effect, so no worries there.

That’s the whole point of Promethean Vision. It is there to help new players (Be it from other games or to FPS in general) with situational awareness. Besides, I would hardly say it prevents skill from developing. It still takes skill to kill someone, even if you know where they are.

It’s hard to take this thread seriously but I’ll try…
-
I agree. Aim acceleration can be really frustrating some times.
-
Optional maybe but why take away advantage others have? IMO there should be aim assist but not as much as in Reach.
-
Yep not a big deal.
-
Not fan of the bloom but I am adaptable.
-
Moving speed is close to H3. And sprint is fine but your idea is just horrible!
-
No for the obvious reasons. Tip: Something to do with balance.
-
Disagree. AAs are now part of the Halo. Instead of whining like a -Yoink- try to learn to use them!
And Halo 3 was basicly Halo 2 with less bugs and better maps. Halo 3 > Halo 2.
-
I agree 100%. CE campaign was just pure epic with its large and open maps.
-
PV is fine. You are being arrogant and foolish…
From the footage I have seen Halo 4 is going to be amazing and great sequel to Halo 3.
Everything in Halo 4 is what we’re given we should be happy we’re being given what we’re being given. So we need to stop being nitpicky about so much in Halo 4. It’s Halo so play it and enjoy whats in it and learn to deal with what you don’t like in Halo 4.
We don’t need pretentious, self-entitled threads like these that arrogantly believe they know what’s best for the franchise. Fans, more often than not, would lead a game into a catastrophic trainwreck if given control.
This is 343’s spin on the franchise. I’ll put faith in them, not your overly presumptuous assertions in your suggestions, i.e., ‘Armor Abilities will be bad and must be taken out of competitive’ or ‘Promethean Vision sucksss’.
Agreed, H2’s movement and physics was god like, by far the best I have seen on a console game. They should definitely try to mimick it as close as possible in future Halo games if they want the movement to be awesome.
As for AA’s I think they should be stream-lined in ranked playlists and the traditional power item system should be used, this would ensure a great competitive experience.
Dual-wielding I can give or take, doesnt really matter to me as long as its balanced.
The point about open-world exploration in campaign is right as well, I had so much fun in the HCE+H2 campaign finding out how to get out of the maps and do all the crazy glitches. Good times.
I’m suprised no ones first game was Reach…
> I’m suprised no ones first game was Reach…
The majority of the people on these forums did not start with H1+H2 I can tell you that lol. The community is so much different now and dare I say it more casual, that there is no way that everyone here is 18+ years old and has seriously played the original Halo’s.

The first game I owned was Halo Reach, but I played Halo 2 at a mates house when I was around 10 years old.
> I’m suprised no ones first game was Reach…
Yeah, especially since the changes in Reach brought many (CoD) players to Halo. Then again, after visiting the forums for 5 minutes everyone knows that you should claim to be a 50’s high that played Halo 1 and 2 on Legendary solo, or similar to get acceptance and respect. If someone would actually say “my first Halo was Reach” they would no doubt be trashed…
OnT:
My first Halo was the demo for Halo 4, spent many hours over at the local game store playing the demo before I finally got to play the full game ^^

lol, I dont think Reach would attract any CoD players or military shooter fanbase, it was kind of the opposite of the games they like to be honest. Long kill times, single-shot weapons, “gay” abilities that let you fly and roll around, and the graphics were kind of cartoony as were the armor effects. H4 is much more “Cod-ified” than Reach TBH.
Also, there used to be ALOT of bashing for join date and skill level admittedly, that is how I know alot of the competitive community was killed off by Reach. I also know though, that the community was alot more tight-knit and alot of people knew each other from online on the forums. So yes there was more elitism its going to come with any franchise with the prestige of Halo, but there was alot more tight-knit communities and more people to jump on and play customs with. The community is more casual now for sure.
Im not one of those people to bash for join dates, but it was more of a joke like “04’ kids love H2 because they couldnt aim in H1” not really mean-spirited unless you took it that way.
