343's biggest struggle

343’s biggest struggle is maps. They haven’t made a good map since the launch of Halo 5. It’s really shameful.
Mercy looks pretty but gosh does it suck. So many people dodge that map. The weapon layout is gross.
Theyre last 3 maps are in the running for the worst in halo history… it’s getting bad…

I think their biggest struggle is with -Yoink!- servers!!

I also think that 343 need to work on their maps, though I’m not as passionate about this opinion as you are. It does seem to be a weak point in their game design.

Designing maps with Spartans that have all these movement abilities can’t be easy though. I know it’s got to be difficult.

Well yeah that too. But if you just look at the multiplayer and not online… the maps suck compare to previous halos.

Yeah every 2.0 map they made for breakout got worse not better…

Yes I do agree with you.
It seems that they keep re skinning old maps.
A new set of maps would be wonderful.

Suck how? Visually? Game play? Weapon layout? Over all size? Interaction with abilities?

On questions of weapons and game play I defer to everyone else because I suck at Halo and don’t even play 4v4 anymore.

But as a forger I have some very strong opinions on layout and aesthetics. And in those regards these are some of the best maps I’ve ever seen. Which stands to reason as the signle biggest factor affecting aesthetics is computing power and this is the One we’re talking about here. But I’m also puzzled at why people hate the “re-mixes” so much. It can only be because they think the dev cheaped out on them, but I don’t see that at all. Pick any pair of re-mixed maps you choose - they have far more differences than they have things in common. How am I the only one who sees this?

100% disagree… their biggest struggle is finding balance between a casual game and a competitive game. They have some great maps in H5. Torque, tyrant, mercy, Pegasus, truth/regret, attack on sanctum, apex seven, are all just awesome maps.

My biggest complaints about maps ties into the lack of gametypes. I miss asymmetrical maps designed for asymmetrical gametypes. Maps like High Ground and Last Resort have always been my favorite, and these kinds of maps feel absent to me in 343s games.

Just going to leave this here… @ 3:55 …pretty maps, terrible game play quality.

My opinion is 343 struggles to release a polished product. Every release has been mired with either technical issues or incomplete playlist, or a combination of both.

When you spend months just trying to get your game complete or functional, things like maps become an afterthought.

These abilities ruin the map design. Another problem is their generic art direction for all the human maps

Their real struggle is mangement (mabey MS too) and the fans. Why the fans? Because (IMO) the fans can’t communicate properly their opinion and that makes it hard for 343 to know what tge fans want.

They gave us forge which is like infinite maps.

You must be trolling… you’re insane

That’s true. But I think their focus is on the wrong place. Making REQ item is a constant. The req system is obsolete now. Idk what they’re working on. But it feels like they don’t care any longer whatbthe fans want.

They make the maps big. They make them either cluttered or they want close quarter combat on mostly all the maps. Which is weird since most of the maps are decent size. The weapon layout is a HUGE reason I dislike maps. Did I mention most all of them are for close quarter combat. Take Truth. They put a sword, hydra, fuel rod, and camo on the remake of an iconic map in all of Halo… (which I don’t like midship)
thats too much. Take the power weapons off and place a plasma pistol top mid as the “power” weapon. That’s it. Or literally make it the same layout as the past halos and stop changing things.
Mercy is just as bad as Molten. I can go on. I just don’t get how they CANT make a memorable map at this point. It is disgraceful.

Uh oh… some one with a different opinion therefore they are “trolling”… sorry you don’t like the maps but there are some excellent maps in H5.

I agree H5 has solid maps. But only few standout. To most. A lot of people dodge the ones you listed. Except the warzone map. I doubt anyone dodges warzone. I’m also comparing H5’s maps to previous halo maps and it don’t stack up to well.

I agree, 343 cant seem to make halo 5 feel casual, all of halo 5 is built for competive. Halo games have allways had a place for casual play, but not halo 5. And yeah there are some good maps too. I like the new warzone and asault maps.
